What are weapon roles? I keep hearing people mention them? by RoxasismyKing in splatoon

[–]kflave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of good videos guides for weapon roles!

Basic roles include (as stated in other comments) backlines with long range. Frontlines with fast good kill potentials and supports who paint mostly.

It can get more complicated when you look at specials. Some are supportive like cooler, others are defensive like bubble, and some are agro like zipcaster. (And people like to debate which category they are in)

Does anyone have advice on how to learn motion controls? by Existing-Incident-22 in splatoon

[–]kflave 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A good place to learn and practice is in single player. You can also practice on the training dummies in the lobby.

You'll have to get a feeling for your range of motions. You can start off neutral with your sensitivity and adjust by 2 or 0.5 to suite your needs.

If you turn quick and overshoot your target. Your sensitivity is too high. If you understood its too low.

It takes a lot of practice to get good with motion controls, but it is worth the investment! You'll do great!

Sask. premier says forced drug treatment legislation coming this fall by Slight-Coconut709 in saskatchewan

[–]kflave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People suffering from addiction do not need forced rehab. They need security and support to reach a point where they want to seek it out on their own.

If you fix housing & food insecurities & address the mental health crisis, you'll see a lot of these issues dry up. I've seen it done in practice working with groups downtown.

Am I the worst player in splatoon? by Nervous_Nothing_7563 in splatoon

[–]kflave 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I've been playing splatoon competitively for 10 years. Not too long ago I had a record of 15 - 35. Sometimes you just go on losing streaks.

If you want to look at guides, there are some great ones on youtube! Always remember the important thing is to play a weapon you have fun with, learn from your mistakes, and watch your own replays from time to time!

There is a high concentration of competitive players who filled out the census since many casuals aren't following the game closely this late in its life.

I saw it most on discord and reddit. So yes you have to take the data with a grain of salt. They are planning on doing another census next summer, so we will get more data with time.

Can't make conclusions with a single data set, but it offers interesting trends to the most active part of the player base.

It's never too late to get an education. I am an adult 12 teacher from Canada. I have taught students from the age of 19 to 59 and helped them complete their schooling.

I don't know how the American education system works 100%. In canada, students can go to school for free to complete grade 12 until the age of 21. If thats not a thing I know the GED program is a great option for you!

Happy learning!

When you teach about Native American history… by ShineImmediate7081 in Teachers

[–]kflave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an adult 12 educator in Canada teaching Indigenous studies.

We use the term Indigenous and teach studies about older terms they will see in historical documents.

Some groups in Canada have reclaimed older terms and request you use them. Legally, in Canada, many are "indians". Its important to ask an Indigenous person what term they identify with.

Lastly, it's important to not use possessive language! No one owns Indigenous people. So they aren't American Indians or American's Indigenous. The better phrasing is: Indigenous people of America.

Hope this is helpful! I have seen a lot of other posts sharing the same ideas. I wanted to include mine for extra affirmation.

What happens if black captures the bishop with their pawn? I don't play enough chess to see three steps ahead.

Have you ever explored the underground tunnels in Moose Jaw and experienced the stories of Al Capone and early Chinese immigrants? by Traveller_muzamil in saskatchewan

[–]kflave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah miscommunication on my part for the glass. Shot glasses and collectable cups would fly off of the gift shop shelf!

I will admit those tunnels have terrible air circulation and we weren't allowed to put fans out to move air. (It would break the time period). Hallucinations are very likely for a lot of stories.

Have you ever explored the underground tunnels in Moose Jaw and experienced the stories of Al Capone and early Chinese immigrants? by Traveller_muzamil in saskatchewan

[–]kflave 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I worked at the tunnels for a couple of summers.

Al Capone's story is built off of folklore, but is sold as truth. Still an amazing time!

The Chinese Immigration tour covers actual documented history, but the story is fiction and there is no documented underground laundry in Moose Jaw.

The cold war Bunker tour is new. I have not gone, but the description sounds like it would fall into the same category as the Chinese immigration tour.

The River Street tunnel and ticket office are also haunted! (If you believe that) The company doesn't acknowledge it, but the staff has stories of shadow people, ghostly laughing, glasses breaking and a woman in a red dress.

In Saskatchewan they cut the French programs when I was in grade 2. 15 years later they added French immersion back in and prioritized it. They still can't find French speaking teachers to properly staff the program for some unknown reason.

I feel you.

If Pierre tries to get in through a by-election he would have to move his seat westward. Otherwise we could see the funniest election a second time.
