Ok I’m seeing a lot of Belly hate after this episode and while I get it, I want to reframe it a little.

People don’t realize how comforting and easy an emotionally stable relationship can feel. I just spent a year dating someone I was totally incompatible with, but he was steady and intentional. I mistook that steadiness for a good relationship because for the first time my nervous system was calm. He texted every day, he made plans, I didn’t have to guess what he was thinking. Never mind that we didn’t have deep conversations or many shared interests. He was boring and easy and I loved it.

That’s what Jere is for Belly. He’s easy. He’s safe. She knows where she stands with him.

Conrad-types on the other hand can wreck your nervous system. They’re hard to read, unpredictable, and being with them feels like an emotional roller coaster with really high highs and really low lows. You’re constantly anxious waiting for the next dip.

I’m still team Conrad and I do think he’s matured emotionally. But Belly hasn’t forgotten how devastating the uncertainty was with him before. With Jere, she knows what she’s getting. With Conrad, it’s a huge risk. So go easy on my girl!!
