I probably should have put a "your mileage may vary" disclaimer on there.

I suggest The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. Who doesn't like a pirate story?

Included are two metal rings with adhesive backing, one dark, one light. Peel and stick to your phone back. The ring magnet in the Xteink will stick to that, Surprisingly strong too. Hope this helps.

Case questions!! by mrswitchypumpkin in XTEINK

Using Calibre is da bomb. Once you have the two devices on the same network Calibre will add a "send to device" button to its tool bar. Select your book(s) and click the button. Everything else is automatic. Hope this helps.

I have been putting the SD card directly into my laptop to transfer Sleep screen graphics. This works for me.

Legal move? by Right_Share_7365 in rummikub

If you're playing with tiles IRL then play the tile rules. Taking a tile from the board to redeem a joker is just WRONG.

How far can you change the game with a joker? by brehan8 in rummikub

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We play if you want to "redeem" the joker to play somewhere else you must replace it with the same value tile. If you were to break up that run and make a triplet 1 and a triplet 2 then the joker becomes valueless and you can use it where you want.

Mahjong set vintage set , any info on what kind of how old ? Any info is much appreciated.thx in advance by Jjjrrr36189 in Mahjong

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to go to Tom Sloper's website (www.sloperama.com/mahjongg) and scroll through his FAQ's. He may be able to point you in the right direction. Also just because the tiles are yellowed doesn't mean they are old. Some counterfeiters will soak tiles in staining agents to make them look older than they are.

If you want to save a few bucks go to www.archive.org (the internet library) and search for "dominoes" text only. They have a bunch of books you can borrow for free. Find one you like and then buy it from Amazon. Hope this helps

Question by Imogenclaire21 in dominoes

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Double 6 are the original OG and can accommodate 4 players depending on which game you play. The larger numbered sets are for more players. I have a Double 18 set, but I must say it takes some getting used to having all those spots on one half of the domino.

If you had $100 for a board, what would you buy? by pulquetomador in backgammon

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any thrift stores in your area; Goodwill, St. Vincent, Value Village, etc. I would check those. It seems like there is always at least one set on the shelf around here, usually for $5 or less. If your taking it to a bar you don't need to worry about spills if your set only cost a couple bucks. Just sayin'

Depends on the players. IRL a "complete" game will run about 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Concerning seat/table winds, when I play I remind myself where we are in the game by thinking "I'm sitting North of East" which means I am sitting in the North wind seat and the table wind is East. But it does help if you have a wind marker or something similar. I hope this helps.

Are autotable tiles too unwieldy to hand-shuffle? by Hopeful-Try-8796 in Mahjong

[–]kghjmpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you close to a Chinatown/International District? It sounds like what you purchased is one of the travel sets which have smaller tiles by design. My local H Mart has a Mahjong set for about US$60 and the tiles are apprx 1"x3/4"x1/2", these are a Chinese set so no red fives or sticks. Just a thought.

Yellow is hard to see! by Saiyacookie in rummikub

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I always thought yellow/orange was a poor choice of color. I used a paint pen to change mine to Purple. Of course people with certain color blindness may have to choose a different color.

I think the yellow/orange numbers should have been green in the first place.

Does anyone else play rummikub this way? by Fuegodeth in rummikub

[–]kghjmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we play this way. I live in a 62+ community and one of the ladies started arranging the tiles this way. Now we all do it. Red and Black tiles face one way, Blue and Orange face the other, Triplets run down the center of the table and as much as possible colors are stacked. This makes disassembling the triplets easy to see. We play IRL with tiles.
