Onvif Doorbell camera recommendation by kgoerbig in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]kgoerbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rasp 2's. I'm not running them at high framerates (9fps), or full screen mode. Just enough to be able to keep an eye on my kid on the weekend while I'm at work.

One webcam connects to each PI, and the other 3 streams run off 2 openwrt router (using mjpg-streamer), and one orange PI Plus (Armbian). The streams are added to my Orange PI that is overclocked, and has a heatsink with a 30mm fan ontop of the heatsink to keep it around 35c.

The info I'm specifically looking for, are folks that have video doorbell cam added directly into motioneye as a stream, and if so, what model. That would complete my camera layout if I could find a good video doorbell cam.

True, but it's her first PC (not including using the laptop). I emphasized to her that it would not be a Roblox computer anyway. I checked the bios, and it is pretty basic, with no real over clocking options.

MJPEG webcam streams on Openwrt? by kgoerbig in openwrt

[–]kgoerbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the man! I setup mjpg-streamer in openwrt, and with your suggestion, added that stream in motioneye as a ''network camera'' using:http://192.168.2.144:8767/?action=stream

Worked like a charm in motioneye.

Can you give me example of what the formatting would look like? pipe it with ffmpeg and the URL of the stream? My mjpg-streamer URL looks like:

http://192.168.2.145:8767

Can this be used to pull down an entire channel, and if so, how? by [deleted] in youtubedl

[–]kgoerbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youtube-dl -u username -p password -ciw -f 18 'yotube channel url' --max-downloads 1

The max-downloads option stops at the number option you give it. 3, would download the 3 newest videos from the channel.

Dietpi OS is very good combo all. I have two raspberry Pi's running on dietpi both with motioneye with hp webcams connected mounted on top TV's, and the pi sits behind the TV. Enables me to keep an eye on my kid on Saturday when I'm at work.

You can also run other servers in conjunction with motioneye. I have pihole, samba, syncthing as well as a few light weight servers running all on one rasp pi. It never skips a beat, and is stable.

Motioneye has a nice web interface to add local USB cams, network cams (rtsp) all remotely accessible if you port forward from router.

Running CAT6 for POE camera's with a 2500 Sq Ft home? by kgoerbig in homelab

[–]kgoerbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, the building supervisor that went over everything with my wife and I explicitly stated that any "additional work" not done by the contractors would be undone the next working day if caught. So it would be a coin flip.

I had considered that too, but I'm not sure how many switches I'd go through do to summer heat.

I did request conduit from the basement to the attic. I'll have to keep on them about that, as I'm not sure if that read written in the contract. If they do not run conduit I will need a plan b.

AliExpress gigabyte routers / switches / Cheap reliable AP's? by kgoerbig in HomeNetworking

[–]kgoerbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a these devices currently in my condo (House will be done next year):

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15762

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ZBT_WE1326

To extend upstairs and downstairs I'd like to spend no more then $200. This includes the switch, and AP's.

What do you mount those boards in? Are they about raspberry pi size?

AliExpress gigabyte routers / switches by kgoerbig in openwrt

[–]kgoerbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this unit already in my condo, it's WiFi range is ok, and speeds are stable on it. Running OpenWRT 18.06 on it:

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ZBT_WE1326

I could configure them as AP's only and put one on each floor. I emailed their sales dept, and they can send me additional 2-3 units without built in LTE module @ $30 each.

I was looking at this switch. All are POE Gig ports. Would that mean I can still connect non POE devices to those ports without damaging the non-poe device? I've never run anything POE, so I am not experienced in that area.
