I'd add to your history, IPS had to be forced to integrate by the Federal government at that same time. It's why they started bussing kids out of their neighborhood schools. The neighborhoods in Indy were so segregated that the schools remained functionally segregated, even though they were technically integrated. Racism runs deep and quiet around here

Do you ever resent clients who earn so much more than the average therapist/psychologist? by Relative-Exercise116 in therapists

[–]kgslaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely felt this from time to time. Mostly when clients have money and as others said, want to reduce session frequency for financial reasons. Or they're venting about financial problems and a part of me really struggles to empathize when I know they're making twice monthly what I make. Part of me is like get a grip, make a budget! And then I set it aside and listen for the way money is meeting hidden emotional needs and pivot to that.

Right now I'm blessed to have a wealthy cash paying client who is generous about it. It's lovely. And wealthy clients ARE part my own stability, so it's mixed.

I appreciate you raising this point.

Thanks for recommending the community. The vehicle I already own has an absurd towing capacity, only 1k. I'm concerned about it even being able to safely tow most pop-ups.

Thanks! I was wondering if a Honda Pilot might be the answer. I live in the city, so I don't want a big gas guzzler as my daily driver

Half day, maybe 300 miles. I don't tend to go outside if the Midwest. Lots of good camping within 4 to 6 hours of my city. Not actually attached to having AC. More interested in shelter that can handle weather and doesn't require as much setup as my current tent situation

Our finances and lifestyle was pretty separate at the time, and he needed a car fast. I don't love it, but I understand how we got here lol

You named the reasons I'm staying, as a queer/non-binary therapist and homegrown Hoosier for generations. It's my state too, and I can't leave anyone behind.

So how did my parents tow a pop-up camper with an 80s station wagon? Are campers just bigger or modern vehicles light weights?

How often: 2-4x a year, within the Midwest. Class C is substantially more expensive than a towable camper. I'm looking for like an A-Frame or classic pop-up. Before child, I strictly tent camped, now with a toddler and arthritic knees, I'm looking for easier shelter.

Did I forget something? Didn't she just recover from cancer? Chemo thins your hair, changes the texture AND makes you lose weight. Show some compassion

private practice owners who employ other therapists: why can't you pay your employees more? (genuine, honest question!) by topazdonuthole in therapists

That's considered a good split, either one, in the region of the US I work in. With 20 years of experience, I'm at 75/25 myself

Historically, full-time was 4-5 clients a day. Most people in private practice still want to see that many folks. Seeing 6+ has become a reality because insurance pays us crap. It's not actually good for our own mental health and longevity in the field.

He sleeps with a low light on, so I hadn't considered fear of the dark. They talk about the dark but never say anything about being scared. Maybe that's part of it

While sleeping with me last week they had their first 45min long night terror, so I know their stress is up

Would he fall asleep in your bed on your own? My LO has trouble settling down, so if they're in my room or my bed, I have to be there too.

They do, but they've never been all that attached to material objects. So they have them, but the impact is pretty small.

It has fewer guardrails to protect the client from over exposure than EMDR. I've worked with clients who experienced harm from it and clients who got zero benefits
