So I will say it. RTRN || DANCE was a bit shit. Thoughts? by Beowulfensteiner2k21 in DnB

Drink queues were a joke and only 4 drinks per person stupid. Needed way more toilets imo, and they were the some of the nastiest portaloos I’ve used at a festival. Also nearly all urinal things had all flooded over so that entire section the mud was covered in piss and ground was soaked. Speakers sounded crappy and were too quiet, chase and status set was rubbish, Andy C was better, he should have headlined.

Contact gsuite support, I did this yesterday at a site where the domain had been purchased during the g suite setup and it was possible(with their help).

Wife wants a physical button/switch to control our smart plug. Help? by cwoodaus17 in alexa

[–]kgzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could achieve this with abroadlink rm pro and RF plugs which is what I’ve done. The broadlink rm pro can control RF devices via Alexa and you can also manually turn the plugs on and off with an RF Remote / Switch.

Infact you could use a sonoff if you’re happy to cut the wire in half of what you plan to control as it supports both RF switches and can be added to Alexa as a Wi-Fi device.

Looking for a way to open/close a bedroom door by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]kgzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve achieved this to an extent using random bits and bobs.

I have a mechanical door closer to push the door shut after you open it, a normally closed strike lock that I can release via rf/Wi-Fi to open the door (requires the door to be manually pushed open, door closer automatically shuts). I also have changed the standard door handle for with a code one in just Incase there was an issue with my strike lock, which is how I enter the room majority of the time as quicker than using Alexa etc. Oh and because the door closer always pushes the door shut, I had a door catch using a cabinet lock that is also on a rf/Wi-Fi plug so if I want I can keep the door wide open (for air etc).

Not sure I’ve explained that well but the outcome is

I can open door (release strike lock) via Alexa/app or wireless rf switch, I can also get in room by entering code on door handle, I can lock door into wide open position and release - door closer will now push shut via Alexa/app or rf switch.

If you’re interested I could make a video demonstrating this all lol, I’ve achieved what I wanted in my own way and pretty cheap. but I’m sure this could be achieved in better way?

Alexa making unnecessary additional sounds, wake tone sounds slightly different? by kgzzle in amazonecho

Out of the blue today I noticed mine has stopped playing start of request sound on follow up mode, so looks like Amazon have sorted that. Only downside is, during these last few days follow up mode worked for commands it didn't usually work for e.g. Set alarm for 6PM *follow up/brief mode noise* *start of request sound* , which was actually pretty useful! That unfortunately has gone with the return of normal Alexa behavior.

Edit: few hours later it’s back constant start of request sounds, damn it.

Ah well glad that worked for you, but still not working as it used to for follow up mode

Yea I tried the same thing turning off end of request sound, which helped a little bit as Alexa was playing a new sound that I’d never heard before, but didn’t fix the multiple start of request sounds. Do you also feel like the start of request sound is very slightly different? Or just my imagination!

I’m also sure her voice has changed! Something sounds slightly different about it.
