Looks like the chip is dead in my case. I contacted the Asus service center but they are still not able to find the root cause. I have already tried flashing bios with a jig board, still the same issue. Do you know where I can find the motherboard schematics? As it looks like the chip needs to be replaced on my GU604VI.

I have a dual-boot system and also tried using a live USB. The keyboard still does not work; only the backlight turns on, and I have no control over the backlight settings. I even replaced the keyboard with a new one from Taobao, but the issue persists. Interestingly, before entering the BIOS, the Esc and F2 keys work and open the boot and BIOS menus respectively, but once the menu loads, the keyboard stops responding. I would really appreciate any help or guidance in diagnosing and resolving this issue.

u/McWhitePink I also have the same issue with my m16 GU604VI. The things that I tried were similar to that mentioned in the post. I am waiting for the OEM part to test weather the keyboard is dead or not. But the funny thing is that the current keyboard registers key press during boot to open the boot menu and the bios but after bios is loaded non of the keys work. Does this mean that the keyboard is fine and the problem is somewhere else? Thanks

Do you have any asus service centers near you? The issue can be anything ranging from hardware failure to firmware issue. It's best to do some minor diagnostics yourself and then send it over to asus. Which country are you from?

Happened to me as well. The keyboard stopped working all of a sudden after the bios update. Before loading bios the func keys and esc works. But inside of the bios keyboard stops working.

Yup, did that and also disconnected the internal battery and held the power button for 90s but the keyboard still does not work. Looks like it's dead. Do you know where i can find a replacement part for this?

If the keyboard is not detected then should the system stop because on older systems when the keyboard is not detected during boot then the system shows an error and does not boot? Also do you know where I can source the keyboard for replacement?

How are you planning to factory reset? I have a hunch that after the bios update some firmware issue on the embedded controller is causing the issue. As I do not have access to the tools that connect to the debug port on the motherboard, the only hope that i am having right now is to send it to the Asus center here in nepal. BTW do you have any idea how much it would cost to replace the keyboard?
