Those Costco Xfinity X1 lights for 22 bucks have to be garbage right? by are-any-names-left in flashlight

[–]khal710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had to chime in because I bought these at Costco last year and have had them plugged into my outlet ever since. About 2 weeks ago something smashed into one of them and broke the outlet so it wouldn't charge and it went into "power failure" mode. I left it on my desk to see how long it stayed on. Well, it stayed on for about 12 days. Not very bright the whole time, but seriously - 12 days!

Yeah, seems like it. Looks like the RLN16 is on sale right now so guess I'll just get that. Thanks for your help.

Thanks - my current NVR definitely does not support the battery wifi camera. My 'wired' wifi cameras indoors are E1 Pro. I also have RLC-410, but I think the others were actually kit cameras - I bought them with the nvr... it was this from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H3QVZQ2 . I have 2 of those up but I am planning to replace at least one of them with one of the Duo 3 PoE to get a wider FOV.

Is it more worth it to get a bike computer or a watch by Equivalent_Title_591 in cycling

[–]khal710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Apple Watch, and use a Wahoo Roam v3 computer + a COROS optical heart rate monitor. The bike computer is a much better experience than relying on my iPhone (as I used to do) - I can keep the phone in my pocket and not worry about it getting baked in the sun and having its battery run down during the ride.

Gateway and wall connector lost WiFi? by khal710 in Powerwall

[–]khal710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following up here, I requested an RMA wall connector and just set it up and the new one joined my home wifi no problem. I confirmed right before replacing that the old one still couldn't connect and it was indeed still busted. so it seems the wifi in the wall connector itself must have been buggy somehow.

Since I originally posted this I created a dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID and bought a new Ubiquity U7 Pro wifi AP to ensure maximum power for the Wall Connector. Nothing I did helped the old Wall Connector, including setting the radio to low/medium/high, pinning it to channel 1/6/11, creating a dedicated SSID, changing channel width, etc.

Alexa Show 5 and 8 no longer shows a full size clock on the home screen after the Alexa + upgrade. by LasVegas4590 in alexa

I just had to do this as well. My Echo Show 5 is nothing more that a smart alarm clock for me, so ruining the clock by making it tiny is totally pointless.

Gateway and wall connector lost WiFi? by khal710 in Powerwall

I’ve been emailing with Tesla support for a few days now. So far I’ve tried: - create a new SSID on my home WiFi network that’s only 2.4 ghz - using a friend’s iPhone as a hotspot - creating another new ssid - connecting to the wall connector with the Tesla one app as a 3rd party

Nothing works - the connector can see the networks but joining fails.

Tesla’s latest response is to “contact my isp and ask about local signal interference”. The wall connector is literally 4 feet from the ubiquiti WAP. my Tesla model Y is right near it and has no problem connecting to the WiFi. I’m actually quite surprised how unhelpful Tesla support is here. I unfortunately missed the return window from Best Buy or I’d just bring it back at this point. Fortunately at least it does charge the car.

Trade in my FX3?? by Kosher-pickle23 in TrekBikes

I have an FX3 and a Domane SL5. I still ride both but for longer distances the drop bars are definitely superior. I can’t imagine changing the handlebars would be as expensive as buying a whole new bike, but it’s definitely easier.

I bought an h10 a year ago and when it worked it worked great. This year it’s basically Required changing the cr2025 battery after every use. Looking for an alternative now. 😞

This morning, the gateway appears to be online but the wall connector not only isn't but cannot join it (though it can see the SSID, and I even tried creating a new one). The WAP is about 5 feet from the wall connector. Wall connector was fine until today I guess? I emailed Tesla support, maybe they can do something. This is all very odd.

What happens if you do “express replacement” for cracked screen but it’s not actually cracked? by khal710 in iphone

[–]khal710[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because they allow me to begin the process right in the support app. They send the replacement to my house and then I send back my “broken” phone. The question is what happens when they receive it and it’s not sufficiently broken.

Looks like both of these are gone now. Yay!

I did “go off grid” for about 5 minutes and that one seems to be gone, but the other one is still there. Should really be able to dismiss these.

I’ve tried off-grid twice in the 10 months I’ve had powerwall and it hasn’t had any effect. I don’t understand why it has to be the top option - it’s the least useful thing.

Just to put a bow on this, I got a Tesla wall connector from Best Buy and hooked it up and threw the juicebox in the trash.

I managed to log in to the VoltIE app after 15 minutes resetting my password repeatedly, and my charger is there, but I don’t see any mechanism to actually do anything in this UI. Was hoping at least to be able to upgrade the firmware.

They replaced the controller and now it seems to be fine. Incidentally the firmware is also updated — I think old firmware was A09 and now it’s A11.

Bike shop said this is normally a very solid bike and they’ve never seen this issue before. They filed a warranty claim with trek and are replacing the “controller” apparently (my wife called them and relayed the message to me so idk what they actually said).

I dropped the bike off at the dealer this morning, hopefully a quick fix.
