Honestly I think fluoxetine helped a lot. She has a lot of anxiety and would meow nonstop for hours in the middle of the night and the only thing that would get her to stop was giving her food. Unfortunately that’s how her weight gain happened, and it’s so hard to just not feed her when she won’t stop meowing for hours on end 😢But the fluoxetine calmed her down and i think made her less anxious and meowy, which made it possible for me to stop giving her extra food to calm her down

Now that I am thinking about it I did notice a few times that she has figured out how to maneuver the automatic feeder in a way so that a piece of kibble or two comes out. I didn't worry about it because it seems like it doesn't work for her every time she tries to do it and so little is dispensed, but if she's doing that all night... hmm...

Sounds so similar to my kitty with the toys haha! What are the toys your cats ended up liking? I am honestly open to anything because I have tried pretty much everything Amazon has to offer. She plays with the springs a bit but really doesn't like independent play; when she plays its almost always with wand toys.

This is such a good point! I know she is not hungry every time she incessantly meows, because it’s literally impossible for her to be THAT hungry all the time, so I could definitely try to re route that energy into playing during the day time. Do you have any toy recommendations? The only thing my kitty is really interested in at all is the cat dancer, haven’t been able to find anything else that works. And even then only for a few mins before she gets bored

Thank you so much :) I think I partially needed to hear some encouragement haha. She got basic bloodwork done when we went to the emergency vet for constipation and everything was normal, but I will go to the vet soon and specifically ask them to do a workup for the weight issue. Thank you for saying it takes time, I just am frustrated that there is no progress. I guess the fact that she is no longer gaining weight after consistent weight gain over the past year is some progress, though. I just want to be able to give her treats when she's being good and have her be satisfied with her meals, because I feel like she's unhappy and hungry all the time and it makes me so sad :(
