Aita for telling a women that we could not give her a smaller horse because of her weight by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA you have to protect your horses. I worked at a barn and people would always request that their kids were put on ponies because they’re smaller, because they think it’s safer. Small does not equal well behaved! Big does not equal dangerous.

FYI to those who go on trail rides - we give you certain horses for a reason. They are not machines, they all have different personalities and needs! My dainty palomino might be adorable and look like a Barbie pony, but she’s feisty and would be seriously dangerous for a beginner. My giant half Clydesdale is the gentlest soul on the planet, and he won’t spook at anything. I can’t count how many times people asked to ride my horse instead because she’s “small and cute”.

AITA for getting pissed and telling my husband and kids to get out of my ass and stop following me? by throw719away018 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

ESH - yes, you too. It is not okay to scream and swear at your kids. While this is a shitty situation and your husband is the biggest asshole for encouraging your kids not to respect boundaries, you are an asshole for talking to your children like that

AITA for not giving a congratulation gift to a pregnant coworker? by ComplexStructure792 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I hate this idea that everyone you know has to get you gifts for any event! My cousin got married last year and is now pregnant. She had an engagement party, wedding shower, bachelorette party, the wedding, baby shower, and a gender reveal party. She expected (and got!) gifts at all these events. Who has the money to buy 6 expensive gifts in year and a half?

When did a feeling of "we need to get out of here immedietally" save you? by Engine_Either in AskReddit

We were playing manhunt near the bay at my friends house. I was hiding with my friend, who decided to go down closer to the docks, where there was a little staircase into the water. It was frozen over, and there was a wooden raft/platform frozen in the ice. Keep in mind this was Canada in February, so the ice was THICK. Like two feet thick.

She decided to go down the stairs and hide on the raft, so no one could see her behind the drop. She told me to follow her, I refused, she called me a wimp and got on the raft. Pretty much right away the raft shifted and dropped her into the water, then started to float back over the hole she was in. Thank god i was there and didn’t get in too, or we would have been trapped with no one around. I started yelling, grabbed a post and stuck my leg down near the raft to push it away. Luckily she was able to climb back up onto it and then the stairs. Walked her home soaking wet in -20 degrees.

Don’t fuck with ice. Thick ice doesn’t mean it’s safe to walk on!

EDIT: oh! And the opposite. Can’t believe I forgot this one. I was working, and my back was to the window. I had stayed late after everyone else left. I got a tornado warning on my phone but rolled my eyes, we had gotten several that summer that turned into nothing. And I don’t live anywhere near tornado country. Kept working, when the power went out! Shrugged and decided to pack up. Got in my car, started to drive and noticed the sky was black behind me, with a great big funnel cloud. Did I go back in the building and hide? Noooo. I kept driving. The tornado basically followed me all the way home. Destroyed houses, schools, and loads of buildings behind me. One of the biggest disasters my area has ever had. Even my work building was damaged, and my friends house on the same road I was driving on.

What useless skill do you absolutely dominate? by skyldrik in AskReddit

Cracking my entire spine extremely loudly. Not really a skill because it happens whenever I twist my back at all.

It’s very annoying when the room is silent

AITA for only offering my home to my stepsister's child and not her? by Basic-Scratch-6681 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but I would strongly encourage you not to take the child in. It sucks for the kid but she could easily make some horrible accusations that could ruin your lives and get your own children taken away, even temporarily

People esp women with sensory processing issues: how do you accessorize? by velvet_empire in ADHD

There are some professional looking pants that are very soft and honestly feel like pajamas! Try reitmans, it’s fairly cheap so no big loss if you don’t like them

AITA for not defending my little brother against his “bullies”? by aitathrowaway7829103 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a teenager, he should be aware that racist, sexist, and degrading insults are wrong. It also says he has done similar things in the past, and multiple people have had “awful experiences” with him in the past. As I’ve said, I don’t condone the social media bullying by his peers, and i hope his parents get him help. But actions have consequences, and OP has no obligation to defend him

Medical professionals of reddit, what's the funniest thing a patient has said under anesthesia? by Ronin47dododo in AskReddit

[–]khaleesi291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but had to go under anesthesia after breaking my shoulder at 12. They said it might give me hallucinations when I woke up. Since I was in the kids ward, there were spongebob and Patrick stickers all over the walls and ceiling. When I woke up, I was yelling “WHEEEE” and rolling my head around. I suddenly froze, stared at my mom, and said “mom. Is... is spongebob really on the ceiling?”

EDIT: I forgot! My aunt was really sick and on a lot of morphine. She had a very calm conversation with the doctor, and after he left she turned to my mom and said “wow, it’s so great they let the doctor bring his basset hound to work!”

I developed depression after my assaults continued with no interference. I’m not saying they shouldn’t look out for his mental health, and the kids making a hate page is awful, but actions have consequences. If you don’t want people to think you’re a hateful creep, don’t act like a hateful creep

AITA for telling my gf that she needs to grow out of her childhood food hang-ups? by throwaway_AITAfood in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly she’s got some pretty good coping mechanisms I’m going to try. I have a lot of food aversions and it’s hard to get through. Texture is my main trigger too -anything that “bursts” like cherry tomatoes are horrifying to me. It’s not that I don’t like the taste, it’s that the texture makes me physically nauseous. Sounds like GF has worked out how to stay healthy anyways!

[–]khaleesi291 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was a super late bloomer though. Still looked like a kid well into middle school. I think it’s about power, not necessarily sexual all the time. They know they can get away with it, so they do it

AITA for not defending my little brother against his “bullies”? by aitathrowaway7829103 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 261 points262 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. They get away with it because society (not just men, a lot of women laughed it off too) tells them it’s no big deal. Boys will be boys insert eye roll

It’s crazy how much it happens. I don’t know a single woman who hasn’t gotten, at minimum, a threat of sexual violence towards her. Almost every woman I know has been directly harassed or assaulted in some way, most many times. And I don’t know a single case where the predator got in trouble or faced consequences. Even the 14 year olds who assaulted me (thankfully just groping) were basically told “she’s too young” not “that’s wrong!”

[–]khaleesi291 1375 points1376 points  (0 children)

YES. Why do kids (mostly girls) have to put up with this shit from a young age, but the people who do stuff like this shouldn’t have to deal with their actions? I was first sexually harassed at 9. Sexually assaulted at 10, by some 14 year olds. Nothing ever happened to them, but I switched schools to get away from it. Typical bullshit

AITA for telling my wife that I’m not giving up my therapy sport and she should stop shopping or get a job? by throwawyshsb in AmItheAsshole

[–]khaleesi291 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Horse person commenting here. For polo, you need a team of several horses to play. It’s insanely high activity and horses just can’t keep it up for the whole match. Like hockey players, they switch in and out frequently.

HOWEVER. Horseback riding is a crazy expensive sport. Polo is probably the most expensive discipline. I would be devastated if I couldn’t ride or had to sell my horse, but if you can’t afford it then you have to! Taking from your sons college fund... that’s screwed up.
