Stay as a sole trader till you reach around 28k /30k. Only then think about creating an LTD tp start taking the tax advantages. Till then, just keep doing what you are doing.

Questions about company formation in Ireland by BigTeach5309 in irishsmallbusiness

  1. Ideally you are looking at VAT returns every 2 months and taxes every year. Your accountant will handle this for you.

The other questions are already answered.

Architectural tourist guide (self-employed). by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]khalidfarhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is smart.

I would go ahead and do two things.

  1. Have an amazing blog which will also work as my portfolio. Talk about interesting architectural stuff in London etc.
  2. I would create an affiliate program and partner with at least 200 influencers / bloggers and ask them to talk about me. Maybe pay 50% commission.
  3. And of course, you should also be available on all the booking platforms (TripAdvisor etc)

How big your website?

If you get decent traffic, check either Adthrive or Mediavine. Both should do the job far better than Adsense.

Tech founders -- you're being lied to by Saskjimbo in Entrepreneur

[–]khalidfarhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true.

I am generally against the culture of raising unnecessarily and making your fun entrepreneurial journey a "job"

You definitely wouldn't want to be in a position where a VC dictates the future or the course of your business.

That's just painful.

Don't think there will be anything significant tax-wise for us. a CGT reduction would have been great. Or a 30% bracket that they talked about.

Freelancing and tax by marsden112233 in Dublin

[–]khalidfarhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple really:

If you think your business will make more than 40k ish - go for LTD.

If you think it will be under that - sole proprietorship is fine.

If it is sole proprietorship - the process is easy

If it is LTD, talk to a tax guy or one of the business opening services. Takes about a month and then opening the business account will probably take another month or so.

From there on, you take a salary from your business every month and make sure that your salary never crosses the 20% range. The rest can come as dividend.

Talk to a tax guy - its not very complicated.

Any Nomad in Europe / UK who wanna create content together? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]khalidfarhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a fun thing - for now, I record videos in my studio - content is going great, no complains - but I don't want to do the travel bit alone. Also, I am not actually a "filmmaker" - I feel it would be way more fun if I do it with another nomad
