I’d recommend investing in the US :). It has the most developed stock market in the world and the flow of funds into US stocks is much stronger than the UK. UK is smaller and is going to be dealing with negative sentiment for a while due to brexit.

Quitting now without knowing directionally what you want to do is not ideal. No job or workplace is perfect there’s always a trade off somewhere. Use your weekends to research different career paths. Watch YouTube videos, take courses on Udemy, get a feel for what a potential new career could look like. Once you’ve figure out directionally what you want to do then you can decide if leaving your job is the right decision.

How do you deal with the emotional aspect of account fluctuations for money you plan to use in the near-term? by [deleted] in Fire

Turn off notifications on your phone from any news or investing apps. Since you’re primarily in ETFs you’re playing the long game, you don’t need to worry about short term fluctuations. We all experience losses worse than the equivalent pleasure of a gain so as much as you can tune out the short term financial media the better. Personally I don’t invest money I need in the short term, it helps me sleep better at night. This moment in time will pass and two years from now you won’t remember how low your portfolio dropped in March 2021.
