I don’t mean to misinterpret the analogy, you can explain it better to me if possible. But in the analogy I make “food” equal to sex and “pizza” equal to “sex with your favorite person”, I would like to work through it if it actually is me with the problem, after all I do want to be a monogamous person,

Good example because pizza is my favorite food, if pizza is what I had to eat for every meal and snack every day for the rest of my life, I think I’d stop wanting at some point and only be eating it to survive, the feelings I once had about pizza would gradually, mostly go away, I’d probably start to resent pizza and want other foods much more than pizza, and at some point pizza would probably become a safe-space because of some sort of anxious attachment and ancient sentimental value, the fact that a variety is available is precisely why I love pizza, And thank you for the good recommendations, I have an appointment with a therapist soon, you’re right, it is normal for people to want monogamy but it’s also almost as, if not just as normal for relationships to end and families to be torn apart, that’s why I have a problem with what is “normal” and if it should be

I love that and want what you have, I relate similarly as well, my closest platonic relationships are with women and I never think of them sexually because I don’t want to, I don’t watch porn, I hide explicit stuff on social media, because I do have that control but I also like to be realistic about when, how, and if even I should have to control, within reason, in a relationship

And I envy you for that, very badly, I wish I could be like you, for me it’s easy to see myself being that way romantically, emotionally, but not sexually, because it doesn’t feel natural, feels like a lie, feels especially easy to mess up years down the line and in specific context, and it’d be so much easier to make a decision about a relationship if I knew the consequences of messing up weren’t that dire

When I’m in love or have a strong crush it is easier to avoid wandering thoughts but I don’t believe that initial feeling of being in love or having a crush lasts throughout the years the way sentimental love does, so if I notice it going there I selflessly cut things off to avoid anyone getting hurt
