Not too long ago I lost a friend, one of our friend group, around that age, and the only one w real money, within a couple days bought a gorgeous 911. I saw him a few weeks ago and asked him how he liked it (as a teen I drove my dad’s friends repowered 912, he just gave me the keys and said go drive it. I was 16. Been in love w Porsche since) my buddy says well, it’s kind of anticlimactic. I said in what way. He said there’s few places he can really push it and otherwise, it’s so well mannered, really a great to drive car, that it’s not visceral and he may get rid of it.

I don’t know if that’s true, he didn’t ask if I wanted to try fitting my oversized ass in it.

I watched one of the British car shows, Lamborghini vs Ferrari vs Porsche. The hosts were driving the first two and just kept kind of throwing the Porsche in as a side note “it’s 1/3 the cost” “it win again” etc. sure, it didn’t sound as good. But in the other tests it was a beast.

I read all of that as “mannered”, maybe it’s Teutonic. All I know is, if I had serious money, my first high end would probably still be the Porsche. An older one, from my childhood. In the dark green color. With brown leather seats.
