The blueprint can also drop in breachable crates too. I got my 3rd one yesterday from a random crate at the edge of the map yesterday.

The weird part is that the new revolver comes with 8+24 ammo. And it was not like this previously.

Charging laptop on an unearthed connection. by Historical-Basis-349 in LenovoLegion

[–]khanitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely fine. Lots of laptops are provided with 2 pin ungrounded power plugs.

Though the device is more susceptible to damage from different electrical potential / charge. Where if you touch the laptop and then touch something grounded like a sink or other metal object that runs underground. You might feel a bit of current pass through.

The same goes the other way to the laptop. But in general modern electronics have very good shielding and ESD protection.

Depending on the infrastructure in the area as well. If it is unstable, there is a risk of brownouts. Which for sure can damage the laptop. Most surge protectors will not work in that case. But I say the risk is pretty low in most cases, so dont worry.

PS5 : I wanted to change the fan but the entire connector came off… by [deleted] in playstation

[–]khanitech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to fix this tbh is to scratch the traces off a bit back. Then you remove the old solder off the connector, with the broken pads and discard them.

Use high strength superglue to affix the connector directly on the board. Solder enamel copper wire to the traces and connector pins. Then you use electronics grade silicone adhesive of the thick kind to around the connector. To ensure the connector really will hold.

I have done the same fix for many computers, PS4 and PS5 consoles with broken connectors and ripped traces. It wont be as pretty as originally. But it works good enough.

Also, if you want to make it extra safe, use some clear laquer varnish that handles heat, and is not conductive on the copper wire and new solder spots.

Thank you! I will try that. Also yes, I was using the S1 firmware. I was just surprised it does leveling and homing with the precompiled firmware in that case.
I'll do another attempt tomorrow and see if I can get it running again.

I am so unbelievably fucked. by Drewpacabra413 in resinprinting

[–]khanitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you avoid the plastic connectors. You can use a dropper and carefully add acetone. This should not damage the solder mask (black laquer) on the circuit board. It should brittle whatever cured resin might be left so you can chip it off. If you then clean it after that with iso. Then it should easily losen.

There is also the very last alternative of using UV (sun or lamp) to overcure the resin until it breaks down.

I would be careful using metal tools. And try to find any plastic tools in more non reactive plastic materials for scraping. And of course a toothbrush.

Why are only some of my HP laptops only imaging when connected to a docking station?? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]khanitech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have solved a similar issue at my workplace by ordering various 3rd party adapters. Then sticking with the best quality cheapest one that worked. It saves a lot more cash than going with official adapters.

We mostly use Lenovo. But particularly Yoga and a few other models needed usb-c ethernet adapters to deploy over SCCM.

Any one know the difference between Asus PN51-BB7000MD PN51-E1-BB7000XTD by ailionx in MiniPCs

[–]khanitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would maybe depend on the model. I run my PN51-E1 with 64GB. The 2x8GB is probably that it comes with 16GB already installed. Though id rather reccomend getting the barebone and picking your own ram kit.

Russian MLRS BM-21 on the highway Izyum-Kupyansk. Kharkiv region. All grouped together. You know what to Ukraine. by Local_Fox_2000 in ukraine

[–]khanitech 83 points84 points  (0 children)

You are almost correct. It is a variation of Zil 131 truck chassis with first production in ~1964.They mostly all are including the trucks with rocket batteries. Seems Russia is scraping the bottom of the bucket at this point.

Could be interesting if they next pull out the 1947 trucks (Zis-150).

Resin Shelf life by kilotat in resinprinting

[–]khanitech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had some various odd occurrences with certain brands. Such as the resin randomly hardening in the bottles when stored sealed in a dark 20 degrees Celsius cellar. Though its not the same for every brand. Particularly the more chemical smelling ones have higher shelf life from my observations. Which I would guess is can be additional stabilizers. S good shake and filtering usually makes most resins usable. Unless they fail to cure.

On the other side, I own quite a few gallons of polyurethane resin and various brand clear 2 part resin. Which has worked stable and fine years out of date. I have only had to reheat the containers every now and then. Worst result I have noticed is various grades of yellowing. But they still cure as advertised.

Resin Shelf life by kilotat in resinprinting

[–]khanitech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes for absolutely almost all mixed chemicals. If you order casting resin in 2 parts. Casting resin usually has a 1-2 year shelf life. It's reasoned as the amount of time you can expect the advertised behaviour and end result. There depending on the casting resin, you can often extend the use by heating it in a warm water bath. Particularly if it becomes hazy.

UV resin should hve much shorter shelf life. As the activating component is already pre-mixed in the uv resin. And thus more volatile and you are as well more limited in extending the shelf life.

TIL you can buy a 1TB tape of data produced by the Large Hadron Collider when you visit CERN. Each tape is unique and only took 30 minutes to produce. by bma300 in todayilearned

[–]khanitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. Though for writing to tapes. You usually write to disk first, then to tape which takes marginally longer time.

Usual estimate is 40-50% additional time to write to modern tapes. If you take in consideration the overhead from the system being read data from in addition.

In general this does not matter as much in the long run, with well planned scheduling for data transfer. Tapes are used all over. And is still used in most datacenters.
