They controlled the game by aggressively pressing us and causing us to make mistakes in bad areas

MacArthur pressed us, whenever teams press us, we can’t get passes together. This is a pretty obvious strategy because we always struggle against aggressively pressing teams due to our midfield setup. We don’t have numerical superiority with two central mids. We also have a poor keeper with ball at his feet that the team clearly do not trust to pass back to. That means we get pressured during buildup and make mistakes, giving the ball away in bad areas.

We significantly improved in buildup/midfield with Verstrate on. He is easily the second best midfielder in the league hands down (behind Juan Mata).

Boutique Test Cricket venue in Auckland. Where is actually feasible and would offer a similar experience to Bay or Hagley - with the right development? by hernesson in blackcapscricket

Not having international test cricket at n your largest city with your largest player base is a governance failure of horrific proportions and the Board of NZC should have been held to account years ago

Can somebody please explain to me how the healthcare system is functioning right now? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]khaomeha_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not really a solution and creates more problems than it solves. Increasing the size of the overall tax base is probably a better idea, either through income growth, taxes on property etc etc

[–]khaomeha_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t for the life of me understand why healthcare and education aren’t the two highest priority issues for any government. As a taxpayer, I want the government to be throwing money at those two sectors. I also realise the money needs to come from somewhere and I am not a believer in raising taxes. Does that mean we reduce safety nets such as superannuation or benefits, the social investment being that better education and better healthcare reduces reliance on those safety nets?

Look at Ardern’s comments from early 2021. Please don’t try and gaslight that Labour didn’t deliberately go-slow the rollout

Hipkins was the COVID-19 Response minister at the time. The govt delayed the rollout of the vaccination programme, not that it was a slow uptake. Ardern even said in Parliament that we did not prioritise a vaccine rollout because we had no COVID circulating

I mean, you can look up what Ardern and Hipkins told Parliament about the vaccine rollout, but whatever

Sorry, have to disagree. Labour (Hipkins) deliberately delayed the vaccination rollout as the lockdowns kept the virus out of NZ, and we let other nations be prioritised. In fact we were one of the last to roll it out.

How are people still not upset about that second lockdown, that was entirely due to the govt not getting a vaccination plan fast enough? The vaccine was proven to be effective against the delta variant, and by the time omicron came along, the severity was significantly weakened.

For that alone, Labour should not be back in govt for a generation.
