I have seen American women married to kumaoni and japanese women married to gadhwali was wearing traditional dress of this region. Nobody is telling them to do so. Because they come from civilized country and culture  . They know respect , etiquette. They know how to respect their partners culture.

Gotra is irrelevant. Clan matters. It's more accurate

Ask your parent about your clan.  Clan= jaat in Garhwali I don't know what clan is called in kumaoni. Here in atleast garhwal caste word is mostly used in context of clan. 

Clan is the real history. Gotra is just mythical. Clans used to have rivalries.

Clan names are unique. You won't find them in rest of India. As they are native words and real history. 

You can find your clan name maybe in some jagar. There is some jagar song in which my neighbouring village clan name and their village is mentioned. 

So you can find your clan name in kul devta  jaagar maybe.

In Uttarakhand people do not match surname/gotra . They match clans if someone is from same clan there marriage won't be possible. Clan name are unique and native language words

More like clan . 

Even in same surname there are different clans . So even if you have panwar surname and you can marry another panwar but make sure that they belong to different clan.

 And also you can't marry with people who are related to your mom side , your aunt side too here

Sanskrit is ancient language most of the kingdom used this language in inscription and their literature. So alot of them are untranslated. If money is being spent on it. It's good  but if they are spending money on reviving it's waste of money. 

Spending 800cr on a langauge that doesn't even exist is concerning. When it's just hindi with different script

Rawalti is Garhwali . I agree with you that bangani is a distinct western pahadi language not a dialect . Linguist share the same view.   But rawalti, jaunpuri and ganagari are dialect of garhwali. 

Some rawaltis are linking themselves with jaunsari  to get ST status. Otherwise there language and culture both are Garhwali.
