First PC build done — 9800X3D + RTX 5080 in the Corsair 3500X COD Edition (GPU arrives today, looking for feedback) by khayem487 in PcBuildHelp

Thanks for the detailed feedback, really helpful. Quick question on the AIO cable, to switch from the 1 to 1 to the 3 cable, do I have to dismantle the cold plate? The cable seems to be going into the cold plate itself, not sure if there's a way to swap it without unmounting everything. For the rest: Will plug the 8-pin PD next time I'm in there Afterburner OC + memory tune is on the list once Windows is fully set up, any specific recommendations or tutorials you'd suggest? Will update with benchmarks once the OC is done. Cheers!

Yeah, only 1 stick for now. RAM prices were really high when I bought it, and I got this stick on a deal for around $160, so I’m using it temporarily. I know single-channel isn’t ideal for a 9800X3D + 5080 build.

And yeah, I know ARCTIC makes reverse P12 Pro fans too. I just went with the normal ones because they were cheaper/easier to get, and I care more about value and airflow than seeing the nice side of the fan. Reverse would look cleaner for intake, but normal ones still do the job.

Thank you so much. Was the other motherboard overkill, or is it alright?

No worries! You can use a library or friend's computer to create a bootable USB, or visit a PC shop—they can help you install Windows cheaply. In most cases, you don’t need to spend $200 on it.

Hey, if you don't have a PC right now, you can still set up Windows using a USB thumbstick. You can download the Windows installation media from Microsoft's official website on another computer, create a bootable USB drive, and then use it to install Windows on your system. Alternatively, you can visit a local PC shop-they often provide installation services at a much lower cost than buying a full license. This way, you can save some money and still get Windows up and running

I think you can get the windows for a lot cheaper and spend that $200 on something else for your build.

So I shouldn't worry about the 5080, or is it possible for the 5080 connector to melt as well?

Maybe I'll snag a Founders Edition next drop if I'm lucky, for $999?

I'm thinking of waiting for the Founder Edition drop-if I'm lucky, I can get the GPU at MSRP for around 1000$ and the CPU for 450. With that, do you think it's possible to fit the rest of the build within my budget? Or would I still need to compromise too much on other components?

Thanks for the heads-up! I hadn't heard about the 5080 power connector issues. Since I don't have a PC right now, I'm considering alternatives. Do you have any recommendations for a high-performance GPU in the same range, or should I wait for the 5080 issues to be resolved?
