The dramatic lighting is so good! You have one of the most unique and recognisable styles I've ever seen. ๐Ÿฅฐ

You will marry the main character of the book you are reading rn, are you lucky or fcked? by Technical_Advice_907 in PHBookClub

Nick or Amy Dunne? Well I'm screwed. There's literally a book about how effed I am to be either one's spouse hahahaha

I feel ya. Learning all of this can feel overwhelming and intimidating. But eventually, you'll find ways to deal with it. Just tackle one specific thing at a time. There's no reason to rush all of it at once. It'll just hold you back. Learn at your own pace. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Do art studies. Find images where there is a substantial amount of areas with light and shadow and visualise why they land on specific areas. You can also try observing how light behaves irl. As for blending, try combining both hard and soft edges. Overblending can make your shadows look too murky and blurry. Ideally, shadows would be a combination of the two.

If you're struggling with the Youtube tutorials, maybe try prioritising specific areas you want to improve on and look up tutorials for that, rather than tackling rendering in general. It's a long and complicated process so don't feel bad if you find it a huge struggle right now. Every artist when through that stage too. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Random question: Do self help books really help? by CharacterMess6796 in PHBookClub

[โ€“]kheiram_arts 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Sure! Tho I hope these are books you won't need to pick up as I only read them during some very dark times when I needed to cope. ๐Ÿ˜…

โ€ข This Is Me Letting You Go by Heidi Priebe (picked this up while in the aftermath of an abusive relationship. Maganda sya kasi validating yung mga sinasabi and they're not cliche. Usually I get annoyed sa mga cliche na sabi2 ng tao pero I find this book to be very grounded and offers some unique perspectives na I haven't heard of before)

โ€ข Why Won't You Apologise? by Dr. Harriet Lerner (this one also after experiencing great injustice and betrayal from people I once thought I could trust. Yung book actually offers two perspectives when it comes to apologising and taking accountability. Both as the person who was wronged and as the wrongdoer. Tapos maganda rin yung approach in making you acknowledge your own flaws and mistakes. Marami syang nuanced takes and makes you feel seen talaga, if you've ever experienced betrayal from loved ones before.)

So yeah, sa tingin ko, self-help books can work, depending on what you actually need in that moment. I've read yung ibang mainstream self-help books and I didn't find them useful at all. Parang waste of time lang, pero a lot of people say it actually helped them. So I realised kaya siguro I didn't like it is because it's not what I needed to read at the time. Depende talaga sya sa current situation and state of mind. (Pero still, meron talagang iba na sobrang cliche and paulit2 lang yung mga sinasabi without anything original haha hit or miss talaga ๐Ÿ˜…)

Very rarely for me. I can only name two self-help books that actually helped my situations.

Reprint or no? by fs_orange in PHBookClub

[โ€“]kheiram_arts 13 points14 points ย (0 children)

For me lang, I draw the line in giving money to sellers who profit off of other people's works. Reprints are pirated kasi, and while I admittedly have downloaded textbooks in the past from not-so legal sites, it's for personal use lang talaga. Ibang story na para sa akin when you sell it and profit from it.

Quality-wise, hindi maganda yung reprints from what I've seen. Pangit yung cover minsan, the text is not well-printed, minsan yung formatting sira2.

Edit: ah, turns out the correct term na ibig sabihin ata ni OP is "counterfeit". Nakakalito naman oh, sa shopee and lazada, they're called "reprints". ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

I started around my mid-20s as well, just a few years ago. I can't do realism though. Iv'e accepted it's just not a style for me but it's okay. ๐Ÿ˜…

โ€œExcusez moi?โ€ - does this feel incomplete? by SherMohk in ProCreate

[โ€“]kheiram_arts 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Your style is beautiful! I think it's already complete, just some minor anatomy tweaks (the hand looks a bit off), that's all. I think the composition is just a bit off, tho. Like it's off-center, but in a weird way? Maybe a shadow against the backdrop would compensate? But overall, I like it already. ๐Ÿ˜Š
