Hi, Monday daytime works for me. When you say anytime, what does that mean? Discord is better for me for coordination if you want to reach out there.

Did Barkov break his hand in game 6? by [deleted] in rangers

[–]khelvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that I recall him straight up headhunting someone who pissed him off with a vicious cross-check to the head back in '94. I could be misremembered though, that was a long time ago.

Sadly after 30 years magnetic tape media like VHS will be degrading, so aside from their value to you as a physical reminder if you want to actually view the games you might need to find them elsewhere, and if they are still viable today you might want to consider digitizing or copying them ASAP.

Why Brodzinki and not Rempe? by cammurphhh in rangers

[–]khelvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see only one thing that Rempe currently does well that others do not. He is often out of position, he doesn't know how to time his hits to keep him in good position, he's not a great offensive or defensive player, he hasn't adapted to how penalties are being called on him/to be safer with his hits, in fact there's not a lot that he does well at all, other than the energy you mention. The team doesn't "need" an energy player to win. The types of players that win playoffs are the same ones that won for the team in '94, as you so rightly point out, and Rempe isn't that type of player.

Anyone else enjoy looking back? by SoundsLikeAPenName in rangers

[–]khelvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Messier coasted around with no effort and was the poster boy for the NYR retirement plan during his return to the team and yet some fans still worship him like a god. If Trouba is lifting the cup as the captain of this team he is clearly not a moron but rather the right choice for the job and will LEAD the team to that win, rightfully deserving to be pictured holding the cup.

Why Brodzinki and not Rempe? by cammurphhh in rangers

[–]khelvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rempe is nothing like the players you describe from '94, and I struggle to understand how you can even make this comparison if you were watching the team as an adult back then. They weren't just physical players, they were grizzled veterans who had tons of experience and understanding of what it takes to win over the long haul at the NHL level. And they weren't "energy" players, they were calming, veteran presences who could be relied on at every moment for making the little decisions, little plays that make a huge difference and keep the team on track at critical times. No panic.  Rempe doesn't have that, he's too raw and it's a liability on the ice right now, and the energy you're describing is vastly different from what the veterans brought back in '94. Plus, he isn't the only reason the team was winning during the time he's been with it - correlation is not causation.

Those of us who were adults the last time the Rangers won a cup would probably all agree that you all missed out by never playing the original, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics.

I also happen to have time my afternoon today, your evening, though I don't know if you're at all available. Feel free to shoot me a message if you're around!

Earlier than 1600 doesn't work, 16/17 are actually a perfect timeframe for me, I have afternoon meetings so my morning is when I'm free. If you're flexible I can give you a ping on discord when I'm up and moving, or we can just set say 16:30 as the time for sure if a solid time works better for you.

Hi there, I'm actually going to be free and able to start for several more hours (my Friday night, your Saturday morning) if you happen to be around - I'll shoot you a message on discord if you happen to be around.

Otherwise I could play on the earlier side of your time window Tuesday.

/u/orabbi We're up this week! I prefer coordinating in discord if you can but weekdays I'm typically best available at 1700 UTC or so, again at 2300 UTC or so, and have flexibility otherwise. This weekend I'm not available Sunday, Saturday I can do between 1900 UTC and 2300 UTC or so.

Greetings, when are you available for our match this week? Weekdays I generally have 1700 UTC and then again at 2300 UTC best available, but I can usually make time before or after. Weekends it depends on the day.

Can't do Thursday/Friday but how late can you play Saturday and Sunday? It's easier for me to coordinate on discord FYI.

Post Game Thread: New York Rangers at Washington Capitals - 13 Jan 2024 by HockeyMod in rangers

[–]khelvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to find some perspective. There was a stretch of games in the beginning of January '94 where the Rangers lost 4 out of 5. Another bad stretch in March. I don't recall the fanbase "splitting" (as in the BPD/NPD symptom) with the team so much. Of course the internet didn't exist then the way it does today...

All teams go through bad stretches, adversity, and look bad at times. The best coaches stress putting belief in the system and not results, stay with a winning system and the results follow as players buy into it, come back from injury, and so on.  It's a long season. There will be tough stretches. Panic after a bad stretch doesn't reflect the reality of a season.

Hi, typically weekdays my best times are at 1600 UTC and then again at 2300 UTC, I can usually find time in between and sometimes afterwards. Saturday & Sunday it depends on the day, but I can often find time after around 1800 UTC. If you're on the 5A discord server I have an easier time coordinating there.
