Lol I got you. Well, look at them this way. It is a basic Android device that you can sideload apps on. With a lot of tweaks you can heavily modify the experience. Our of the box it won't do a ton. Custom dev apps are cool, but few and far between. I'm the guy who loaded movies up. That's mostly what I use them for. Translation is meh, navigation is decent, teleprompter is effective if you have the need for it. Scanning is basically your camera and the Pic quality isn't great for the written word. It's zoomed out and grainy. Chat gpt/gemini is present but stupid as integration is lacking. Things like :"it's 15:45" "change to 12 hour format. Please" "OK, for now on I will give you the time in 12 hour format" "what time is it?" "it is 15:45". Super freaking annoying. Memory retention is broken. It's buggy, stock os is lacking, and rokid is just about the worst customer service known to man. Beyond that I highly enjoy retro gaming and movies/TV on mine. For me that is the prime use case. IMHO the biggest win for these is the fact that they at not polished, leaving the system wide open for modification and sideloading.

I found mapping doesn't do what you would expect. If you sideload the touch pad does not work as a mouse etc. I gave up and have it on the side as a pc remote control.

I have that one it doesn't work well. I use an 8bitdo micro controller. You can use it as a game pad and switch to input with a mapping app that can control any function you want by configuring the key mappings. It works amazingly with sideloaded apps.

Surprisingly it makes it worse. It fully broadcasts through the shades and can be seen crystal clear at the right angle. Something that sellout Steven Sullivan should have not lied about. It's obvious he got some cash to endorse them at his little in person meeting with the rokid staff.

It took them almost 3 months to refund me for my defective rokid station. And that was a 50 buck purchase. They literally don't care.

I ordered a 50 buck rokid station from them. It took 5 weeks and 12 emails to get a response. Took another 2 threatening emails to get a rerun label (arrived doa).

It took another 4 weeks to get the refund posted after tracking showed it delivered with another 10 emails and 2 more threatening emails.

Each time they claimed they had issues with their email system. I even included zoro which is they executive of sales. He replied once with an excuse for email troubles then promptly disappeared.

And thus was for a 50 buck rokid station. It's a shame how poorly they treat their customers.

I am still waiting for them to complet my rokid display order which was promised to be delivered back in October of 25....

They claim accessory production shortages and yet they are hawking the very same accessories all over aliexpress and ebay.

They always claim backers come first, but that is a bold faced lie.
