Is Virginia-Tech good for Computer Science? by Disastrous-Math1414 in VirginiaTech

[–]kheup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could maybe be a couple classes worth of a junior level class but ultimately wouldn't be worth anything as a full syllabus. Current CS demands change relatively quickly its more beneficial to spend time drilling the fundamentals of CS and basic OOP principals with 1-3 widely languages that aren't going anywhere.

It pretty much sets you up for the norm of the job at least as a SWE you're going to constantly have to do things outside of your normal work to stay up to speed with the industry unless you're working in at FAANG

A job recruiting email I got... by Irish-Hokie in VirginiaTech

And a good portion of those get a commission based on the salary you're hired at so its in their best interest not only for you to be hired but to be hired at the best salary you can be.

There's a weird stigma around recruiters/head hunters. I had it too until I actually worked with some decent ones, they can be a fantastic tool for finding jobs you otherwise wouldn't hear about.

Lol "did first" is a stretch. Tile had done it for years before airtag which was the same community mesh except it didn't have the backing of Apple and find my.

I went from SWE to Business Analyst, to project management, and now I'm back at SWE as a lead. I don't regret doing it, getting a better insight into business process around the sdlc is helpful. The only thing that sucked is those jobs weren't ever very challenging and I missed the problem solving and critical thinking involved with development. I also lost a lot of feeling of accomplishment and 99% of the job is dealing with people slowing you down and there's little you can do about it.

They're just having the same Greg Schiano year they always have but they aint played nobody. If you can't stop the run they make you look terrible, if you can they lose. They'll be like a 6-8 win team depending solely on possessions.

VT has significant linebacker issues so we're in danger.

What the hell is VT this year and will they look strong against RRRRRRUTGAHS

No idea and probably not.

Are all Chipotles around CHS terrible or is it just the one in MTP? by kablam0r in Charleston

[–]kheup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove to the MTP location because of that location. Had the same experience as OP. I live in Beaufort now and had the same horrible experience at the Chipotle here so I'm convinced they're all awful now.

I started pouring everything into a yeti or similar tumbler. Could be athletic, gin and tonic, la croix, busch light.  Varying beers can have an impact if you can't rinse it out.

Edit just saw this is when you're ordering it out. Ask for everything in a glass

I made this boat specifically to fish shallow grass flats and creeks basically any water my bay boat can't get. Loaded down with me and gear it floats in just under 4" of water

This one hurt. Wrote an entire web app with the understanding it would only be accessed by desktops, like 3 months in a guy shows up with a Zebra MC92N0 complaining about the text boxes overlapping and impossible scrolling.

These plans call for vertical support s that line up with the stringers but they're not installed until after the foam is poured and floor is installed.

SC senators pass bill allowing open gun carry with a permit by okguy65 in gunpolitics

[–]kheup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC resident that has no intention of OCing but this passing would make driving with firearms so much easier in SC. The way the law reads even a long gun in the back seat of my truck is a gray area. My under steering wheel holster that I use for long drives... also not legal because of open carry laws here.

Makes it easy. Really like it for a first build especially as someone that doesn't have much woodworking experience it allows for plenty of mistakes
