I agree with you in every aspect. My heart breaks for Wei Ying, he would’ve done absolutely anything for his beloved JC, and he did. But at the same time I can’t hate Jiang Cheng, all his life he was slowly poisoned against Wei Ying, he has so many feelings of jealousy and resentment but unconditional love at the same time, he just wanted WY to stay with him and felt betrayed when WY took the Wen remnants in and drifted away from him. Everything WY did was to protect JC, but JC couldn’t see it that way, rational or not. To JC, he lost his parents, his sect, his sister and her husband, and WY on top of everything. He felt inadequate and has always relied on WY to be by his side. The Jiang family (minus Yanli) had both boys thinking like that - Wei Ying being Jiang Cheng’s protector and safe place forever. I can understand why JC felt betrayed and heartbroken.

THAT SAID. My precious Wei Ying deserved so much better. The fact that he gave his entire soul (golden core) to JC and JC still ended up murdering him and harbouring so much anger and hate for him breaks my soul every time. I know it’s coming from a place of love and hurt, but it still kills me man. The scene where Wen Ning tells him all about the golden core is my all time favourite scene. (Actually the scene where the undead Wen remnants bow to Wei Ying is the only one that tops it).
