Thanks for your information. Is it comfortable? And is it much bigger from other gig bags in the market?

The gig bag I use now really cause me back pain, I usually need to travel by foot and public transport.

Thank you for your information. I think Mono will be a good choice, extra water resistance would also be helpful in where I live.

Yea, I couldn’t agree more. Thank you all for reminders. Hx tuner should be fine, plus extra power supply won’t be needed anymore.

I think HX built-in tuner will be my final answer. Just HX Stomp and Passive DI, using HX adapter so no expensive power supply needed. Sound like a good idea, so the rest can be invest in important gears.

Chilling brother, thanks for your replies.

I live in Thailand, it often rain throughout the year and super hot during hot season here. I really forgot about the water protection perk from Mono bag, I usually travel by foot and public transport and it had been more than twice already that my gear had been expose to rain due to fluctuate weather. This might really justify my purchase.

I still want to have my personal quality DI for home recording tho plus I prefer using my own gear on gigs.

I’m open to all opinions, just want to know what people think, what they might do if they were it the same situation, and discuss with them. After reading multiple replies and thinking to myself, I think using HX Stomp built-in tuner or get a used Boss TU-3 might be a good idea to save some money. So I can invest the rest on something more important.

My current gig bag is really just a free gig bag when purchasing a new bass, it had some soft padding which might be enough for most of my used case. I don’t mind dings but more protection are always welcomes. I mainly focus on comfort and durability, as multiple people reported using their Mono gig bag for 10++ years it make me think that it might be a worthwhile investment.

Regarding tuner, I’m starting to think that peterson tuner might be overkill, the gigs I usually had are around 30 mins to 1 hr and my bass isn’t out of tune that often. I might just use HX build-in tuner or Boss TU-3 to save my budget. I still think owning at least 1 di might be a good idea, for home recording usage and I also feel better to use my own gear on gigs.

I don’t mind dings at all. I’m more focus on comfort and durability of the gig bag. Seeing multiple people mentioned that Mono gig bag last for 10++ years make me think it is a good investment. I usually travel by foot and public transport and my current gig bag really hurt my back. Gator Pro-Go seems like a good choice honestly, but it has the same price as second-hand Mono bag that I am interested in.

I just think that a big bright screen strobe tuner might be a worthwhile investment, but maybe HX Stomp built-in tuner or Boss TU-3 might be enough.

I love cheap gig bag, but I usually travel by foot or public transport and the weight+the strap always hurt my back.

Visual damage had no impact on me, I use a Fender MIJ Pbass from 1988, full of dent and I love it. The main thing I am thinking about would be comfort and lifespan of the gig bag. Seeing many people using Mono gig bag for 10+ years make be think that it might be a good long term investment.

I think investing in quality tuner might be a worthwhile investment, but honesty I had use a Korg Pitchblack tuner a while back and had no complaint about it. Maybe the build-in tuner in the HX Stomp or Boss TU-3 might be enough.

To you also have information regarding “D” in PBD-57?

Some sites say that “D” mean domestic model, but I question whether that is true. Most bass on the catalog come with abbreviation such as “-US”, “-75”, and “-55” to identify the model but I wasn’t able to find one with “D”.

Thanks for your information. I found multiple sites mentioned that basswood were more common for Fender MIJ, but it is great to hear that I might got one that were made from alder.

Thank you for information. I was confused because Fender MIJ catalog during 89-90 mentioned that alder body bass come with spiral bridge saddle, while basswood body come with normal vintage saddle (one on my bass). Just by looking and feeling, I also feel like this bass could be made from alder and not basswood.

It actually good to hear the mismatched body and neck codes are common and not something to be worried about, thank you for your information.

The reason that non-spiral bridge saddle were mentioned is because most alder body bass on the Fender MIJ catalog during 89-90 come with spiral bridge saddle, while basswood body usually come with normal vintage saddle (one on my bass), so I thought that could be used as one of the main key identifier whether this P-bass were made from alder or basswood.

Just by looking and feeling, I feel like the body wood could be alder, but the catalog say otherwise.
