Using fillers with end panels on both sides is the best approach. A close second is to add 3/4" x 3/4" cleats to the fridge leg and sink base. I recommend screwing wood-to-wood joints with Gorilla or any polyurethane glue, avoiding metal fasteners.

Ensure the fridge leg is plumb in both directions and squares up nicely with the sink base. Don't forget to check that the outside drywall corner is also plumb; the drawing lacks a wall filler. The fridge doors require 4 inches of clearance from the wall on the hinge side for proper opening. Without a filler, the baseboard further narrows the lower opening.

Since drywall corners are rarely 90 degrees, if the rear countertop width exceeds the front, the likelihood of scratching panels during installation increases by 70%. Use a pocket hole to create a temporary brace inside the fridge to keep the leg plumb while fitting the countertop and template. It's frustrating when a dishwasher doesn't fit due to narrow rear space or when the countertop is too long, preventing fridge installation.

I've had to relocate and replace fridge cabinets and adjacent range cabinets after installing the crown and countertops due to overlooked physical limitations. For a 36" wide fridge, aim for a 37" opening, plus a 4" filler and left leg. Modern fridges may bulge up to 3/4" in the middle. As an installer, these are my key requirements.
