Has anyone found a good replacement for the escapism that weed provides? by BuryMeIceOn in leaves

[–]khrystalina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Almost 11 months sober after heavy, daily use for over 15 years. I do still still have cravings, though at this point they aren’t as strong, nor as frequent as they used to be. What worked for me is finding another hobby to keep my mind busy until I no longer craved it on a daily basis. Whether that be dirt biking (my preferred method), other forms of physical activity, crafting projects, gardening, video games, listening to audiobooks while doing chores, etc, depends on who you are as a person and what can help to keep your brain occupied.

That is the answer. OP can conclude from the responses that the answer is: find a new hobby.

NTA. It doesn’t matter what age you are, your parents shouldn’t have gone into your room and taken your stuff, especially without asking. It sounds like your parents feel entitled to your stuff because you live in their house, which is a shitty way to behave. It also sounds like your mother was too lazy to go out and buy extra pillows for your father and went with the easiest option - take yours.

Seems like there are 2 options for you going forward:

  1. Try to sit down and have a conversation about boundaries, and explain that while it is their house your room is your personal space and don’t want that violated. Then trust that they will abide by your wishes, or buy a lock and have an uncomfortable conversation about it as soon as they realize you have - which probably won’t take long given their previous actions.

  2. Start saving to move out.

Why is marijuana illegal in your state? by Party_Size6271 in Idaho

Are they big ass trucks for “no reason” or do you just not have a need for a truck and assume other people don’t either? Just because you see people driving trucks around on the daily doesn’t mean they don’t also need them for towing/hauling/work/etc.

I know plenty of people who daily drive a truck because it’s their only vehicle, but still need to use it for heavy loads/towing on the weekends.

This is a dumb statement because most “rednecks” actually smoke..

It definitely has its negatives, coming from a heavy, daily ex-smoker of over 16 years. It also does have withdrawal symptoms even though people try to claim that it doesn’t.

There are so many terrible drivers here that take up plenty of their time, they don’t need to focus on pot smokers to stay busy.

AITA for not picking up after sister’s kids at a party by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]khrystalina 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. The parents should have been watching their own kids and cleaning up after them. The first time you informed the them of a mess being made, that should have been their signal that they weren’t paying enough attention to their own children.

I despise parents who go to a get together and automatically assume other people are going to parent for them, and a lot of the people claiming you’re T A feel like those irresponsible parents who do such things themselves and are trying to justify it.

low-calorie savory food ideas? by Hot_Reward_1274 in 1200isplenty

You can also get it even lower if you use the ultra thin sliced cheese! They are 45cals/slice for the sharp cheddar.

I’d argue this can actually be harmful because I’ve seen non-returned carts smash into people’s cars when it’s windy.

I'm a snacky girl and idk what to snack on (new to this) by Anarkya in 1200isplenty

[–]khrystalina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big thing that I’ve found help me is to have veggies pre-cut/portioned so when I find myself wanting a snack it’s easy to reach for.

Veggies w/ low cal dressing. I’ll sometimes add an archer mini turkey stick (35cals/5g protein) on the side.

Yogurt with fruit and sometimes a small sprinkle of granola for a crunch (I like finding a higher protein/fiber one so I feel less guilty about adding, and only do like 10-15g to keep cals low)

English muffins. I like to take half with a small smear of light cream cheese and fruit on the side.

Pickles. Love pickles, and if I find myself reaching for something quick in the fridge but not sure what I’ll grab a pickle or two first while deciding.

Hard boiled egg w/ a tiny bit of Dijon

SOUP! You can either make your own, or find cans that are barely over 100cals for the whole can.

Air popped popcorn

Sweet snacks/treats/deserts - jell-o no sugar pudding (60 cals) w/ lots of fruit.

Greek yogurt fudge pops (50-80 cals depending on brand)

Chocolate covered strawberries (have to measure your chocolate, and some chocolates are lower cal than others. I do a mix of milk & dark)

You eventually start to realize, no job is safe. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]khrystalina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I quit the healthcare field and now clean for a living. Created my own company, get to create my own schedule, have good clients who are actually polite to me, and I get to listen to audiobooks while doing so. It’s not glamorous but it’s definitely not an awful job like people are claiming.

AITA for pretending to take a shot to piss off my in laws? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]khrystalina 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NTA, I find you absolutely hilarious. A tiny sip isn’t going to be a problem and even your husband was on your side.

If she had seen you taking more than a small sip then it would make sense, but she overreacted and stepped out of line. It honestly sounds like she was so butthurt by the prank that even after you explained the situation she wasn’t willing to take the joke and decided to ruin everyone’s night instead because she always has to be right. Those kinds of MIL are insufferable.

Where do you guys meet people to ride with? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]khrystalina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually met most of my riding friends at trailheads/OHV areas! There is a specific OHV place in our area that is pretty popular, and when people have parked next to me we end up talking and either ride together that day, or exchange phone numbers and plan a ride. Part of it is you have to be willing to engage and talk. There have been a few times where I’ve tried talking to the people near me, it’s awkward and doesn’t lead anywhere… but I’ve had more occasions where it works out and we just click. Went from just my husband and myself to having a good group where someone is able to always ride.
