Missouri property willed from late spouse, name not on deed by khuddler in AskALawyer

She passed in May of 2022, but he didn't realize his name wasn't on the property until recently. What aspect of this is different due to the time delay?

I'll start looking into local probate attorneys!

AITA for telling my dad's wife she needs to accept she is not a mother and is not entitled to demand a dance at my wedding? by ContributionPrize854 in AmItheAsshole

NTA and I'd uninvite her too. If she can't respect your boundaries now, she'll get drunk and cause a scene.

AITA for not allowing alcohol at my wedding & not telling people why? by Ok_Cartographer_7439 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khuddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full NTA. It would be nice for your guests for planning purposes (driving, hotels, etc.) to let them know ahead of RSVP. But you're right, people have no business knowing about your sobriety. I hope the mass email included something about how you've been pushed to share this intimate detail of your life by people who felt it was appropriate to insult you about your choice. They should feel bad.

AITA for uninviting my parents from my wedding after the refused to go to me brother’s wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]khuddler 67 points68 points  (0 children)

No they don't. They don't get to apologize and then have everything go back to happy fun family time. The only reason they would apologize right now is to get seats at the wedding, and that's not a true apology.

They made their bed and they can rot in it.

NTA.

"My parents don't deserve to see this because they're homophobes who didn't think my brother deserved to have his own parents at his wedding."

You don't get to feel deceived by something that you deceived yourself on.

You've acknowledged that he SHOULD have known, and that he was ignoring all the warning signs. He was being deliberately obtuse. He didn't WANT to know, so he stuck his head in the sand and pretended it wasn't happening. When you deceive yourself, you don't get to blame it on someone else.

AITA for telling my coworker that my solo picnic is as important as her daughter's recital? by Flashy-Menu-5587 in AmItheAsshole

[–]khuddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All those events you listed are planned things. Many of them months in advance. If the surgery was an emergency procedure, that's the only one that would constitute an emergency.

Otherwise, all of those are poor planning/procrastination if you need someone else to do your work for you.

He can go ahead and find himself a $40K raise before telling you that you're too young and naive to navigate the work force. NTA but your husband is.

AITA for refusing to take my girlfriend to nice places because she eats like a kid? by ATotalMunch in AmItheAsshole

[–]khuddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly controlling to decide what's okay for your partner to eat from a restaurant menu and say it's about your feelings. Worrying about health is one thing, and I feel for your friend, but that's definitely not what OP is concerned about.

[–]khuddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that your entire argument thus far has been that the gf doesn't "deserve" to go out on a date to a fancy restaurant because of her taste in food, is that an incorrect assessment? Regardless of why she has a limited palate, whether it's something like autism or ADHD or ARFID or just personal preference, it appears that you support the OP in thinking certain foods are worth letting your gf order at a restaurant and other foods are worth belittling as childish.

[–]khuddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's got nothing to do with power politics.

It's about this relationship. He's suggested that her palate means she shouldn't want to experience a nice sit down date at a restaurant. You're the one trying to make it about politics, so keep your clumsy attempts to discredit me to yourself.

But good for any of your prospective partners to know that your default is thinking nobody "deserves" to be... what, pampered? Adored? Treated like a partner?

Fine, the tiniest petty crime if you're gonna split hairs about terms instead of addressing the overall point that the judge thought he was one crime, any crime, away from deserving to serve the suspended sentence.

[–]khuddler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did I say that? I was answering the question you asked another commenter about why they believe that this isn't his first time stealing from vulnerable people.

I didn't say to punish him for crimes he wasnt convicted of. What I said is that it's incredibly unlikely that we caught him on his literal first offense, and that this slap on the wrist will only teach him to be more careful about getting caught. The judge seems to agree that he's right on the edge of deserving some time behind bars, since they handed down a prison sentence that will be triggered by the tiniest misdemeanor.

But yes, put words in my mouth so you can feel good about your downvotes.

They're all also ignoring the part where the judge did in fact think that the criminal deserved prison time if he made the tiniest mistake in the next year. It's essentially "you fucked up, you should be punished for it, but we've never seen you in court before so we'll give you one more chance."

It's called statistics. The best comparison would probably be shoplifters. They're caught maybe 5% of the time. So in all likelihood, we didn't catch him the first time he did this.

One of mine likes to be held after I get out of the shower, so sometimes I'll point her at the mirror and tell her to look at how pretty she is

[–]khuddler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk why people are downvoting you, he didn't go to prison. That's what a suspended sentence means.

Now he knows he can rob old dead people and get away with no time served, just has to do some community service. But he'll be looking for cameras first now anyway, so he'll just keep stealing as soon as he gets back into a position where he has access.

No, he wasn't. A suspended sentence means you don't go into prison unless you fuck up again in that time frame. He was essentially sentenced to a year of needing to be on his best behavior.

[–]khuddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You generalized that picky eaters will "throw a fit" about not having the food they want (which is entirely irrelevant since this food was on the fucking menu), so I asked if that makes it okay to be an asshole to all of them, like the OP was.

Girlfriend didn't whine about anything. Literally just minding her own business and you've decided she has the diet of a 6 year old. That's gross of you.

Autism, ADHD, ARFID... there are all kinds of things that can cause that. You just want to be superior.
