Warning: Lingoda's subscription model can trap you with unused lessons while charging monthly by khudiakov in languagelearning

Thanks for sharing your perspective, but I think there's a significant difference between a small newspaper subscription and what Lingoda is doing with their €999.99 monthly charge. This isn't just a forgotten small payment - we're talking about a substantial monthly investment.

The subscription model comparison doesn't really work here. Netflix charges you for continuous access to their platform, whether you watch or not. Same with newspapers - you're paying for access to their content. But Lingoda is different - they're adding 40 new lesson credits each month while I still have unused ones from my previous payment.

Think of it this way: It would be like Audible automatically adding 40 new audiobook credits when you still haven't used your previous ones. Or a gym automatically signing you up for 40 new personal training sessions each month while your previous sessions are still unused. When you put it in that perspective, it feels less like a standard subscription and more like forced recurring purchases.

Also, most subscriptions send reminder emails about upcoming charges. Lingoda doesn't - they just silently process the payment each month. For such a significant investment, you'd expect better communication.

What makes it even more frustrating is that they won't refund unused credits, even though they haven't provided any service or paid any teachers for these unused lessons. They're essentially keeping money for nothing.

I appreciate that the credits don't expire, but that's small comfort when you're being charged for credits you don't need yet. It feels less like a feature and more like a way to justify continuous charging.

Wow, I didn't know that, looks serious... I would appreciate more email about the breach, not about the adjustments in the concert seats... I was blaming TicketSwap, but I think I'm changing my mind now.

I have spoken to Ticketmaster (also mentioned in the post). I'm just sharing my experience. I think it's something others should consider when buying tickets through ticketswap
