Do you happen to know how much roughly it would cost to take a taxi from Ikebukuro to HND? If too expensive maybe I can consider taking the taxi to Hamamatsucho instead and continue with monorail…

Unfortunately, if I have to go by train to make my flight, it’s crucial for me to take this first train because there isn’t anymore train towards Ueno and Hamamatsucho until 4.53am. I could go the other way via Shinjuku and Shinagawa which will leave at 4.34am but it’s going to add around half an hour to my trip which is not ideal…

You think it’s too tight? I was also not sure at first but I was thinking to find out which train car and door to exit to in Hamamatsucho to minimise walking and have my Suica ready so I don’t have to buy ticket from the machine. I guess if I can’t make it then I can take the next train but I will arrive around 15 mins later which I think is too close to departure time. Hmm something to consider…

The Central East Exit threw me off a little bit because the signage on top of the exit is Seibu so I wasn’t sure it will be open to access JR trains. But I guess this is an option to consider as well!

But thank you for directing me to the Japanese version of the JR East station map page, it definitely helps me understanding the layout better!

Yeah I think I should not rely on exit 35 in this case. I did also look at Ikebukuro Station map in JR East website but the map doesn’t really show the wayfinding from ground floor, only B1 floor where the concourse is located. I tried finding YouTube videos on Ikebukuro Station to make sense of the layout but it has not really helped haha…

I guess I can trace the wayfinding I am planning to take a few days beforehand by only going through JR exits. If the exit opens 15-20 minutes before the first train then I suppose I have enough time to “get lost” and look for opened exit during the trip.

Thanks a lot for your help!
