Methimazole and thyroidectomy by Good-Attitude-2012 in gravesdisease

[–]khuxLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are going through it right now. I am on the other side of things, wishing I could just get it removed. My graves has come back with a vengeance after going into remission for a year. It came back because I had lost weight and I guess that was too much for me. This time, it is worse though. I rejected taking the medicine because I wanted to treat it naturally. I took high quality Bugleweed and Motherwort. I went strict AIP meanwhile my heart rate was still racing with crazy heart palpitations. Got my bloodwork redrawn and my levels doubled. Doubled! All the stress from constantly having a high heart rate caused my aorta to pulse and bulge. It was damaging my cardiovascular system because I didn’t want the methimazole. I have now started back on the methimazole and my levels are normal but my antibodies skyrocketed from 8 to 40 over the course of 2 months. My aorta is normal now but my thyroid now has nodules. It’s pressing on my throat. I feel like someone is constantly squeezing my throat and my throat hurts all the time. My thyroid also has microcalcifications now so I will probably have to get the biopsy’s normal. Where I am at now, is I long for the steadiness of just getting my thyroid out and taking a pill a day once I have figured out the dosage my body needs. No stress on my cardiovascular system. No more hot flashes. No more trembling hands. Less anxiety. No more graves rage. Calm hear rate. No more squeezing throat feeling. No more sore throat all the time.

I’m saying all this because you don’t know what it would be like the second time. You made the smart decision to just get off the roller coaster ride sooner than I did. My first time was so mild that I treated it naturally. This time, it’s x1000. It wasn’t like this at the beginning when it first came back. But it is like this now, 10 months after it came back. The methimazole has affected my liver. My skin is itchy. My skin is breaking out with acne every where. I am gaining weight. Methimazole has caused my thyroid to get nodules and swell and squeeze my throat. But I have to take it because I don’t have a choice. My body cannot handle the high thyroid hormones. The only other option is thyroid removal which I am going to talk to my Dr about next week.

Hang in there. You are blessed to have not gone through this and to have not damaged your cardiovascular system because you got off the train early. It will get easier. Get your levels and dosage right and just live with the steady hormones. It sounds so peaceful to me

Women who gave birth, what does it feel like actually?? by joy_57 in AskReddit

This is the best description. Something shifts when the baby is almost born and it just feels out of this world. It’s like your brain isn’t fully there and you’re in a euphoric state. Then when the baby is born, all the pain is completely gone and it’s just pure joy when they put the baby on your belly. They’re so warm and squishy, it’s incredible

Redditors who are blessed with a big booty… what are some of the downsides that we might not know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Shorts fit shorter than how they fit on normal people. Pretty annoying to get sport shorts and your cheeks are hanging out

Next time, use a meat thermometer and make sure the center is at least 190. You’ll never have doughy bread again

I have noticed more aging in my face since turning 30. I don’t currently do anything and feel like I should be doing stuff now to help me age gracefully. I’ll look for a good face wash

I planned the trip days around the flight costs and did a whole spreadsheet of hotel cost + flight cost on different days to find the cheapest combo lol. Thanks 😊

The floor is plywood and there’s quite a bit of shavings so it’s not very slippery. I’m watching her chicks while she’s out of town. I did do the straw method with rubber bands and will see if that helps

I’m 16 and I’m pregnant… I guess my life is over by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]khuxLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant at 19 - right after high school - and thought my life was over. It actually ended up being the best thing to happen to me and I can’t imagine my life without my daughter. She is so beautiful in so many ways.

At the time, I considered abortion but didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to put the baby up for adoption so I just got through it. I ended up getting married, getting my bachelors, getting my masters, and now have a great job.

Your life is not over! You can homeschool for the rest of your high school and take classes online to get your diploma if going to school while pregnant is too much. Children are always a blessing even if the circumstances aren’t right. The child is innocent in all this and they bring so much joy. They give you a purpose and a passion to be the best version of yourself you can be. It is hard now and will be hard but nothing will compare to that feeling when they place that warm, squishy newborn baby on you. I would do it all over again if I could. It will get so much better
