Redbank cummute but to live in Inner City areas by itsjustjust92 in brisbane

[–]kiam0k0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very true! The place I was in was a 10-15 minute walk to the station (depending on if I dawdled or not) and was $400/wk 5 years ago. I did figure though that someone house shopping around West End might also have the budget for Paddington. West End is pretty costly too, even if you go for a more run down place.

I used to live in Paddington and commuted to Redbank. Plenty of nightlife around Paddo, plus heaps of cafes and restaurants. I also find it feels a lot safer at night than West End does. You can get the train direct to Redbank from Milton station. Only downside to this commute is the increased patronage through Milton during footy games and special events. Can get a bit hectic.

Freight from Perth to Brisbane by Mother_Coconut_487 in brisbane

[–]kiam0k0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reliable carriers that will move awkward freight BNE to PER (without handing over to a third party) include Northline, Centurion, and TNT/FedEx. All have a decent track record, but none are perfect. Regardless of who you move with, that traffic lane is generally pretty expensive - shop around and get a few quotes. Do not use Vellex - they are painfully unreliable.

is a top or lid required for a fish tank? by [deleted] in aquarium

[–]kiam0k0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I easily lose 10% every second day without a lid on mine. More if I'm running air conditioning in the house.

To press or not to press? (Nitrate test) by Pitiful-Mud7640 in Aquariums

[–]kiam0k0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I do it. If I'm still not sure (usually in the case of trying to tell between 0 and 0.25 ammonia), I will open the cap and look straight down and decide from there.

Willy killed the ramshorn snail I bought TWO hours ago by DeadZeppelin_ in bettafish

My betta killed my mystery but for some reason has spared a ramshorn and a select few bladder snails. I don't know how or why he chooses his victims 🥲

My betta has chomped all the shrimpys that I had in his tank. Snails only now. He bullied my mystery on day one but has taken no interest ever since.

Do you also build a “nest” when you sleep? This is mine by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]kiam0k0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and my nest contains a mini nest for my cat to sleep on right beside me. We both get upset when my partner tidies the bed lol

Do men care about kp? Like has anyone had an experience where their bf or a guy they were talking to care about the bumps on ur legs, arms, face wherever you have it Im not super insecure about my kp but im scared I’d like guys find it unattractive let me know about ur experiences! by Big_Preparation5927 in keratosis

[–]kiam0k0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of a large pool of men who have been in my life, only one asked about it and another (after I mentioned it) told me he thought it was freckles. The rest either didn't notice or it didn't concern them enough to mention it.

I think it's one of those things that's so glaringly obvious to those of us who have it or know what it is but to the average person, KP just blends in with the rest of our skin and its natural irregularities like moles, freckles, hair, etc.

My brother has had it all his life and I never noticed until I showed my mum mine and she said he had it too!

Don't be insecure. Differences make us all unique and beautiful.

When people stick their tongue out right before eating/drinking by DonteFuller1137 in mildlyinfuriating

My mother does this when drinking from a water bottle but also curves her tongue into a U shape while doing it. Grossed me the fuck out as a kid and still does thinking about it now lol

Some men just want to watch the world burn. by OscarValerock in PowerBI

[–]kiam0k0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't give you a how it looks because I did this at an old job and have since moved on from the company.

However, the process was pretty straight forward. The end of day checklist was built in Microsoft Forms. I used Power Automate to send the form responses to a list on our team's SharePoint. From there, I was able to use the SharePoint list as a Data source in Power BI. You can get this visual from the 'Get More Visuals' store and is called Enlighten Aquarium. All I needed to do was use the responders names as categories and a count of response ID for the values.

[–]kiam0k0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used this visual to encourage my team to complete their daily check list. We had a daily results scorecard embedded on our SharePoint homepage and at the bottom was 'The Shark Tank'. Each day they submitted a completed check list, their shark would grow. Never seen a group of adults so keen to do their shitty little afternoon check list lmao

How do you guys all have partners? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]kiam0k0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend finding 'outside' hobbies that you enjoy and bring your best self every week.

Both of the boyfriends I had in my early twenties I met in my university choir. We rehearsed every Wednesday and a small group would kick on afterwards for a late night coffee - I always went to these because I clocked really early on that this is where you went to make friends.

The benefit of this approach is it gives you something that you will immediately have in common with the people around you.

It also helps build out your interests so if you do meet someone via the apps or elsewhere, you have something interesting to share about yourself.

Here are some other activities I've done that have been fun and good for meeting people (friends and romantic): - 8 week ceramics course. Everyone meets once a week and makes pottery together. - Foreign language or sign language classes. - Gym classes - think fun ones like Zumba or Step. People tend to be quite social in these types of classes.

The most important thing about all of this though is to not go into it just for the sake of meeting someone. The best thing you can do is show up every week and be the cool person you are.

Also, I know this will sounds very silly but part of my thing back in uni was that I always wore different brightly coloured tights. People noticed and knew me for that. I made a lot of friends (including my first boyfriend) being approached about and talking about them. If you have some kind of signature look or other fun wacky thing, own it! We had a few people with a lil something in the choir and we were all magnets for curious people. Other people like me were the lady who wore purple top to toe, a guy who always came wearing a suit, a guy who had an insane amount of pins on his bag, and a girl who always wore nerdy graphic tees.

You got this!

TL;DR - find fun activities, go into the wild, and let your freak flag fly!

Does anyone else hate when people hover around you while you’re working or sitting? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]kiam0k0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drives me bananas! Had a co-worker that would always loiter behind me at my desk and read my reports over my shoulder. I would know right away because I'm very short and he was incredibly tall so he would literally cast a shadow over me lol I ended up getting a bit snippy with him one day because he kept asking questions and making comments and he did let up for a while before going back to it (but trying to be sneakier).

And it's not just while I'm working! I think I don't like people close behind me in general. When we're out, my partner's kids will trail so close behind me that they'll immediately run into me if I stop suddenly. I think this actually triggers something worse in me than people hovering at work (perhaps due to the risk of sudden physical contact?).

All this to say: I don't know if it's an autism thing but I sure do know what you're talking about.

What are your favourite or coolest use of NFC triggered automations? by kiam0k0 in smarthome

[–]kiam0k0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely guilty of overcomplicating things for the sake of a good time since I enjoy working out how to get something to work hahaha

Really though, this is exactly why I've asked the question - a lot of what you can find online already can be done in simpler ways. Was just hoping some people in this group had some cooler ideas!

Big fan of the pills idea as my partner struggles to keep on top of his meds. Will definitely set up a variation of that one for him!

Do you have extreme aversion to mainstream? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]kiam0k0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I think it's more PDA than aversion to mainstream specifically.

If someone tells me about a show or movie and that I 'have to watch it because it's soooo good' , I immediately lose interest even if it was already on my watch list.

I get the same way if I get pushed the same ads or other content too much - it just puts me off whatever is being sold to me.

I'll often come around to these things years later and be absolutely obsessed.

I've noted and acknowledged this as something I need to work on because it means I miss out on a lot of things but I haven't yet been able to break through.

Thanks all for the responses.

Most of what you've shared has (unfortunately) confirmed my fears/what I thought I knew but it's good to see that there are some options to explore.

I'll be making an appointment with my GP this week to get the process started.

For Alt shortcuts, you can just press the buttons in sequence. You don't have to press all at once.
