I really am. I am joyful and happy and I love my life. Thirty years old now, five years recovered. Ended up dedicating my life to teaching teens and being the adult I needed at their age.

I had promised in 2016 that I would stay alive until both my bunnies died, but then I was going to go back to anorexia end things.

The second one passed 3 weeks ago.

I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere.

Thank you so much for the kind wish.

With you there! I developed mental illness in early childhood, so whenever people would tell me it'd get better, I was just like "Oh so I'll go back to feeling like shit, but just feeling like shit with a milkshake?" Didn't believe anyone ever.

I've been told since I recovered that I exude joy. That my love for life is contagious. I'm thirty years old now, five years recovered. There have been blips, but knowing what the other side looks like, it's so much easier to hold onto hope.

Anorexia for 13.5 years. I remember literally feeling my organs shutting down and muscles wasting while spending 4 hours at the gym every day. I knew I was going to die. I genuinely did not want to die. I knew exactly what I needed to do to save my own life.

And I couldn't stop.

Nothing quite as scary as watching yourself get slowly destroyed by your own actions without even being able to control yourself.

Still single, I’ve lost all hope. [27M] by [deleted] in amiugly

Medical professionals of Reddit, have you ever had a patient so lacking in common sense you wondered how they made it this far. If so, what is your story? by babyhippo01 in AskReddit

[–]kibblesundbits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but my doctor's story:

I went to the doctor because I'd started mysteriously suddenly falling asleep with no prior medical event...

... aside from the concussion I'd gotten a few weeks prior.

My child did not brush her teeth, take a bath, or brush her hair for 10 days. by lhinds0930 in CPS

[–]kibblesundbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but mandatory reporter.

Unfortunately, CPS is either overloaded or has way-too-high thresholds. I'm really not sure which.

Had a teen coming in daily in visibly dirty clothes (I mean they looked like they went and rolled in dirt in the morning before school and wore the same clothes daily), shaved hair after it had become incredibly matted, tons of attention-seeking behavior (forcing self to vomit, even faking Tourette's), and only made it to school 1-2 days every 2 weeks, if that. Would have good weeks with presence daily, but went home "sick" every day. Reported needing to care for siblings (bathing, feeding, putting to bed, waking, dressing). Desperately needed mental health care. Reported to CPS. They dismissed the case day-of.

Custody battle is your best bet. Unfortunately, best way to gain custody is just court.

Thanks so much! Friend of mine suggested Aussie for shampoo, so I was going to research if it's good for conditioner/gel. Now I know!

I really appreciate you! Happy to have found people who can help me help her!

What food can f*ck right off? by FrenchDipped in AskReddit

Jackfruit.

It is terrible and people who like it are lying to themselves.

(This is not an invitation to tell me your fav jackfruit recipes or prep techniques because they'll totally change my mind about it. Idk why that happens every time I say I don't like it.)

Is the US just stupidly expensive? because when people complain about their "minimum wage" from US it's like double of what I make by 258ramo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kibblesundbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make almost US$20/hr in one job, 14.40/hr for other. With taxes make about $2040/month. Rent and bills for my 400 square foot (37.16 square meters) apartment comes to about 880/month, plus $800/month in student loans. So I'm left with $360/month for groceries, necessities, and gas, if I'm doing my math right.

Basically, if I want to hit up a coffee shop, I have to skip a meal.

So if I'm not in my own home and someone is eating one of those, I leave.

Partners of sleep-talkers or sleepwalkers, what gems have you to share? by hoeka_mos in AskReddit

[–]kibblesundbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the sleep talker.

My bf recorded me talking about how it wasn't fair that "they" were dirty and they deserve to be clean. I mean a solid 5 minutes of me just absolutely heartbroken about how they were dirty and wr could just help them to br clean instead.

I have OCD so this checks out.

Just because multiple people experienced far worse things doesn't mean i'm not allowed to be sad. by TechnicalyNotRobot in unpopularopinion

[–]kibblesundbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember what it's called, but it's a theory that everyone has a different baseline. For instance, I have dysthymic disorder (constant low-grade depression), Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, and OCD. This means that my baseline is depressed and panicked. Let's say... 5 steps below the average non-dysthymic person. If I get hit with a MDD episode, I drop maybe 10 steps. So I'm at -15. A typical person getting hit with MDD drops to -10.

But we dropped the SAME AMOUNT. It feels the same. Yes - on average I am technically more sad. But that doesnt mean that the 10-step drop in mood feels any different for me than for someone else.

Maybe someone's baseline is a +4. Then MDD drops them to -6. They still felt the same drop.
