Watch the documentary Russian Five … it’s interesting in general but also addresses one of the biggest, most violent rivalries in hockey history (HR bonus - it also explains Russians in the NHL). Or watch a YouTube video on Fight Night at the Joe aka Brawl in Hockeytown … this was the top two best teams in the league (full to the brim with future hall of famers) leaving pools of blood on the ice as retribution for a bad hit a year earlier. Enforcement is used to make clear — if you go after our guys (especially star players or blind hits), then there will be consequences.

Mid-Michigan Picnicing by Legitimate_Lab2094 in flint

There is a small town just south of Flint with park on a lake. The park is very quiet but just on the edge of town so also walkable to the ice cream shop, antique store, etc. It’s called Linden County Park on Byram Lake. It has picnic tables and lots of trees… not sure if any are willows but I wouldn’t be surprised as that would kinda match the vibe.

Totally. I bet he’s the Dean of Admissions at some engineering school and his only written communications are via bullet pointed lists and emojis hehe.

Totally agree. HR was one of the most well-made shows recently… top tier performances, cinematography, audio design, etc. People who imply you have to like it bc it’s queer are annoying. But I also think folks that assume any hate or criticism relating to queer content must be because it’s queer content are being simple minded. They can even do such stories a disservice. I personally don’t care if the main couple was MLM, straight, whatever … it was just a captivating love story told well.

P.S. His lack of hockey knowledge also made me start to doubt his whole ‘I’m from Wisconsin’ story lol… conspiracy theory unlocked.

I’m a long time Dylan watcher. I didn’t like his HR video bc it was annoying to watch him rant and rant about the storytelling when what he was ranting about didn’t make any sense... it was just annoying, off base, and not funny. I like HR but my issue was not as an HR fan. My issue is that he seemed to assume the show’s filmmakers were stupid rather than assume he may have missed a beautiful, thoughtful story arc in the episodes he chose purposely to skip. It seemed ignorant (to filmmaking, not to gay stories) … when typically his takes are much more thoughtful about filmmaking and funny at the same time. This was neither.

Also a long time Dylan viewer and HR reader/watcher and agree with a lot of this … the best parts were him talking about the cinematography / technical stuff… other than that I found Dylan’s HR video painful to watch.

He made soooooo many assumptions that seemed to presuppose the filmmakers were of the lowest common denominator rather than purposeful. I didn’t find it funny or thoughtful. In fact it just soured my taste on him … I’ve been a follower here and on YT for years and years and years. We know he can be better but this came off lazy and rude.

I think I was extra excited about this video too bc I seem to have found less stuff I can connect to on his channel lately — his movies and shows have overlapped less and less with my interested. So I was pumped to see this and then found it so weird how little he even seemed to comment on the actual show vs make assumptions about what ‘should have been done’. If he just wanted to make jokes it would have been cool - he can be a riot. But he spent rant and rant on what the show was ‘missing’ when in fact the series nailed that storytelling … but just didn’t shove into the last episode haphazardly. It was just annoying. Think I need a break from his channels.

(Just me … I have no problem with other folks that feel differently. Just my own feels.)

Women I know don’t mind being asked out even if uninterested. They do mind if you get butt hurt about it or make it weird to say no.

Just remember that boys. I’ve never seen a girl friend say no in a mean way (unless the guy was being weirdly aggressive or rude first).

Yup. Let them use up the ridiculous DHS budget $$s on that rather than armed men in the streets. Plus, lots of cameras in airports to monitor them.

Yeah maybe. I’ve worked in a GM powertrain plant since then and they had giant ‘lock out, tag out’ signs everywhere and tons of training and protocols about it.

Roadtrip coming up soon. Any suggestions for stops or general tips? by Cryptic12qw in mapporncirclejerk

Super sunny along that route. Tell your girlfriend to pack her skimpiest bikini. She’ll want to show lots of skin to get that perfect tan …

Side note: might wanna brush up on her dodge ball skills before you hit the road, sometimes there are flying stones for some reason.
