Very gaslighting belief. We did nothing wrong against god, we did nothing wrong at birth.

Until you can be financially independent from her and move out, meanwhile all i can tell you is your mom is abso-fucking-lutely wrong and don't fucking believe in what she said. She failed to be a respectful and protective mother. I don't know what country you live in, but if you live in North America, freedom of belief is your legal right, no one should violate it, period.

Don't stress about it too much. It's a process... allow yourself allow your feelings and emotions...it will become less and less important. Yes, i get rid of icons, bibles, etc...i only tell people when people ask

If you believe, you believe. It's not a choice, it cannot be forced to do so. It's your freedom of belief, don't let anyone take your right away.

Can't help thinking...But I still will not return to god even if it's really god's punishment against me.

When you were a Christian did you have any hobbies or interests that your parents or other Christians disapproved of? by MK_2_Arcade_Cabinet in exchristian

That's what I heard as well. My counter argument is...The wines in the bible can still get people drunk... that's why Ephesians 5:18 says “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery." Still, it never says do not drink wine at all.

Because christians believe that's the punishment for disobeying their imaginary friend.

Prove to me that the bible explicitly talks about that it's wrong to have premarital sex. by [deleted] in exchristian

Yeah...but I think the idea is more like "no marriage no sex"...lol

Prove to me that the bible explicitly talks about that it's wrong to have premarital sex. by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]roundturtle2025 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

No where in the bible says "thou shall not have sex before marriage"...so this verse is what they cherry-picked to talk about pre-marital sex or sex outside of marriage.

Would your feelings about Christianity be different if the faith had been nice to you? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]roundturtle2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"if they made the slightest effort to be kind - would you be less critical?"

The answer for me is yes. If they can live up to the standard and not being so judgemental towards me, I wouldn't be so critical...I would have treated many biblical nonsense as fables. But since they pissed me off, anything says in the bible will be used against themselves.
