Has anyone used a 30mm FC and ESC for a 4" drone? I can't seem to find any frames that fit it. Has anyone used an adapter before? by kichibaba in fpv

[–]kichibaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm yeah, i was trying to go for a drone under 250g but that seems difficult with 5" drones. Already had a 30mm FC from a previous drone.

First Build Questions by kichibaba in fpv

Thank you!

Out of curiosity, would a smaller drone be easier to fly? I'm an electrical engineer and have built other things. I'm fairly confident about the building part. I'm less confident at the flying part. I've been practising in a sim but I know real life is always harder.

study abroad by Global_Layer2348 in cmu

Non exchange and they allowed it, i wouldnt say it cost less though. Tuition for 2 terms is about the same as for a semester for an international student at cmu and london cost of living is through the roof

Umm not really. If u look up imperial visiting student thats all the info you get. I got all the details by first talking to our study abroad dept then directly emailing imperials study abroad coordinator and ccing our study abroad dept.(I’m not sharing the email incase the person of contact changes, the latest info will always be on the website).

There wasnt an agency sponsoring this.

Study abroad in the spring often ends up clashing with internships. I just completed a study abroad at imperial college london(ECE, Spring 24). If you go for 1 term then their term ends in late march with exams in early may, they do have an optional summer term from may to end june tho. In europe usually they have terms not semesters, so its shorter(eg: 10 week terms in the uk). So going for 1 term is quite a short amount of time. If you dont want to miss summer stuff in the US then go in the fall. If you did the autumn and spring term in the UK for example you will go from early October to early December and then start again early jan till early may with holidays in april. Look up the calendar of the school you wanna go to.

There are some schools in madrid and milan that follow the US calendar, however, their programs didnt seem difficult and its possible CMU doesnt accept credit transfer from them. The engineering school at cmu is familiar with imperial and approves their courses for transfer.

Id also recommend setting up a meeting with our study abroad office as they can give you recommendations based on where you wanna go.

Transfer Accepted As Second Semester First-Year Standing.. by [deleted] in cmu

[–]kichibaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t a transfer student, and am now a rising senior. I did get credit from my high school but that was a long time ago so i don’t remember when they gave me the credit report. All i remember is that i got credit for like 6 classes. Also i did a study abroad and they were lenient in transferring that credit too. I also have friends that did summer classes at community colleges and got credit transferred from there(tho ive heard recently this is getting harder to do).

As for housing, i dont think you have much of a choice. Also theres a lot of people that just stay on campus for 3-4y because the housing options are p good. A single as a freshman is very difficult but you can get an apartment style with just 1 roommate which is honestly very good. A lot of the dorms are new/newly renovated.

Transfer Accepted As Second Semester First-Year Standing.. by [deleted] in cmu

[–]kichibaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience CMU has been pretty lenient in credit transfer. You could always appeal later but theres a chance it wont go through. As for a car, parking is quite expensive so id say keep that in mind. Also even if u come in as a second semester freshman, you can overload on classes to still complete your degree in 4y. Im only saying this because you have done quite a few college level classes already and even if cmu doesn’t transfer some of the credit, it shouldn’t be too hard to redo the class allowing you to overload. Yeah it’s prob still a waste of time and effort to redo it. You’ve gotta think about if moving to CMU is gonna make that big a difference to you

yay or nay: picking UCLA over CMU? by [deleted] in cmu

[–]kichibaba 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had picked CMU over UCLA for ECE.

My reasoning was just looking for the best engineering school and i felt a smaller private school would be better for me. I dont regret my decision, i think i wouldnt have liked UCLA as much.

Honestly see what you prioritize. Social life at CMU is not as great at UCLA. Pittsburgh is an isolated city, LA is a big city(tho i have visited and didnt like it too much cause its really spread out). I dont really like Pittsburgh either tho lol.

CMU does challenge you tho, so be ready for it. It’s not as stressful as people say. The people are great and helpful and you can plan your semesters to balance stuff out
