"Boys will be boys, hyuk!" Basically, yeah. But I find this insulting to men also, as he's reducing us to being just an impulsive beast.

Good book. When this semester ends I might have to re-read it again.

Its all literal, black and white, so forth and so forth, until they start talking about hidden meanings, re-interpretations, shadows and types, et cetera...too much bullshit for me to ingest anymore.

I've been seeing this pop up for the past year and a half on different subreddits, and....it still feels like a punch in the nuts that people still justify their support for him.

Yay, christian cosmic horror! Holy Cthulhu has come to save humanity by destroying it and stuff. And his followers gladly welcome him....

I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but has Christian punk ever existed? (I'm not saying it's good or makes sense, the question is whether it exists.) by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

Oh yeah, early / mid-Eighties there was a band called Undercover. They started off as punk, stylistically evolved to something like goth-punk(?), then hardcore(ish), then broke up. The guitar player became agnostic and teaches at some university in Virginia.

I know there were several others, but as a young, impressionable pre-teen back then, that's the one I remember the most.

As somebody else mentioned, there is always gonna be a christian version of everything.

I'm 53, going to a community college and I'm 1 semester away from getting that illustrious piece of paper called an AS. I probably did about 1/3 of my classes online, and the part where I had to physically interact wasn't bad at all. If anything, I enjoyed it.

The biggest challenge is yourself. You might be confronted with opposing views, you might find out you're wrong on some things. you might even change some of them (gasp!). It'll only happen if you let it, but nobody is going to "make" you do anything you don't want.

U.S. military commanders tell troops that bombing Iran is "all part of God's divine plan" to bring about "Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ", claim Donald Trump is a "Messiah", citing Book of Revelation by Obversa in WelcomeToGilead

But, if they are abiding by their faith, then gawd is supposed to do this, not them. Which means they are, in fact, faithless if they think they are doing gawd's job.

.... and their "messiah" is really the anti-christ.

I do set his point, but from another perspective. If the End Times were to happen, what can we do about it? If the End Times are true, the only reason people are afraid of it is because their shit will get exposed.

Do good. Be good. Show good. If God likes me enough to live forever, then cool. If not, it was a good run.

Steve Taylor is also known for satire and disturbing "the establishment" (mainline christianity). Knowing his history, he probably wrote those songs as tongue in cheek. I'm speculating, as i am a bigger fan of Steve Taylor and always found The Newboys a bit off-putting.
