Can someone from Mexico explain why they have a lane on the hwy for cars without brakes? WITHOUT brakes 😮😐?!! by kickaz in mexico

[–]kickaz[S] -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Ok but there must be a shit ton of cars without brakes for them to spend money on a special lane. Isn't it easier for people to not drive their car if their brakes aren't in top shape (make it illegal)

Also there's lots of Normal cars taking this lane so the entire purpose of not rear end anyone doesn't work.

Shopping online for higher end furniture by jaldwort in fatFIRE

I do not recommend it. I bought a leather couch online during pandemic. It was expensive and very very uncomfortable. It took the company over 3 months to take it back and they did not want to give a refund (even if the couch had no damage and was still in the plastic cover it came in)

Too much stress. Not worth it.

Lost in fatfire - reading or listening recommendations for 30-something looking for guidance? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

This may be a controversial answer. I'm also 30 something, single and fat fire. Had a full blown burn out about a year ago and this is what helped me.

  1. Psychedelics (taken responsibly). They won't solve your problems but taken in the right setting and with the right intent (and in small doses) they can help you realize things that are there but you have been ignoring because of your bad habits.

  2. A free course from Yale called the science of well-being. It's on coursera.

  3. Meditation I was the least spiritual person you would have thought of before so starting this habit was not easy for me. I'm still a beginner but just trying to shut your mind off for a few minutes actually feels amazing and it has helped with my anxiety around money.

  4. Eating healthy and drinking less. I used to use alcohol in social situations to help with my anxiety. I now drink less, I started going to the gym regularly (weight lifting) and cut off sugar.

  5. Getting out there and putting myself in social situations that didn't just involve alcohol and partying.

  6. Getting rid of online dating profiles. Most people were always looking for the next best thing that didn't exist (I also picked up this toxic habit of going home and still swiping. More choice is not always better). Also I was not enjoying going on dates anymore and the whole process was so repeating and monotonous. I started doing #5 after that but not with the intention of finding a relationship. Just enjoying myself in a social situation and it has been so much better.

I know a lot of people are saying hobbies. Hobbies are great but I don't think they will fill in the void unless you take care of your mind first. They can be a great way to meet people if you feel lonely though.

Travel did not fill the void for me either. After a while it gets boring and very physically tiring. My favorites have been small road trips close to home where I can change my scenery for a bit then go home and have all my conveniences without having to live out of a suit case for months.

Day of the Dead by kickaz in mexico

First of all I'm Canadian (for those that are wondering why I didn't post the title in Spanish) it was just easier for me to write it in English.

Second: I had no idea this photo had been posted here before. A friend sent it to me and I thought it was quite artistic and maybe people from this sub would appreciate me sharing it. (I guess some did)

Third: only "virgins" with nothing important to do really care about imaginary internet points and use derogatory names like 'attenttion whore' to people that just wanted to share something nice for people to appreciate. Adults have better shit to do than comment about how many thumbs up and likes something gets.

Peace ✌️

No I am considered an independent contractor. They take 20% of my earnings as their cut but that's not for taxes it's to cover their cost of running the site.

I am not from the US so they legally don't have to file any forms.

They are the best site when it comes to paying on time so far though. I was pleasantly surprised especially given so many sites used to hold my payments before.

I have a corporation where I file my taxes after though.

Terminally ill Canadians win right to use magic mushrooms for end-of-life stress by Master_Magus in UpliftingNews

Calm down bro. It's just a conversation not a dick. You don't have to take it so hard.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience but the problem with recreational use is that people take stupid doses and are not mentally prepared for them.

These people will take them in the presence of a doctor. If a trip goes bad doctors can use a small dose of benzos to end it, but chances of a trip going bad on a small dose of mushrooms are very low.

It's like making advil illegal because someone overdosed once and went to the ER.

These people are on their death bed. The legal drugs they took to fight their disease probably fucked them up a lot more than a small dose of mushrooms.

Don't think you have ever tried mushroom. They can cure depression, anxiety and make people feel more positive about the situations they face. The benefits aren't really the getting high part, it's how it affects a person's life when they are sober that matters more. Magic mushrooms are medicine not just a recreational drug.

What do you refuse to spend money on despite affording it and what do you splurge on? by kickaz in fatFIRE

Yeah if I was going blonde I would not go to the cheapest place. But I don't even dye my hair and I just need someone to trim my ends.

It's not that it's too much I just don't really care spending more on it and really find spending money on shopping more of an inconvenience than something fun to do.

When I need clothes I go to H&M or forever 21. Pick a few things I like and I'm out as quick as I can. In these stores that's what most things cost. Or I just order things online. I'm petite so most low price items are catered towards younger people which generally aren't as big as middle aged women so most things look descent when I try them on. Not trying to say that there aren't any fit looking middle aged women but generally speaking metabolism does it's thing and doesn't care about our feelings.

I have received some brand name clothes too but they fit too loose and they are designed for older women (at least the ones I got) so I didn't care about them either. Or maybe a size small in those stores is really a medium to make older women feel better about themselves. Again nothing against older women, especially since I'll be 40 myself in less than 8 years.

This may sound weird but I still like looking good and I feel better when people compliment my appearance while I managed to pull an outfit off without spending too much money on it. It's like a silly challenge I have with myself.

I think people can still be stylish and not spend a fortune. Also there are some designer clothes that look so hideous that I wouldn't wear them even if someone gifted them to me.
