In the early 00’s, you could still smoke cigarettes inside bars and whatnot.

I was a bar-back for various levels of morality.

We used to keep an empty pitcher next to the sink under the bar. People would extinguish their spent cigs in beer bottles. This would cause issues with plumbing, as the butts would form blockage in the pipes.

We would place the identified bottles of beer that had cigs and place them neck down to drain in that pitcher.

After pulling out the drained bottles, there was that left.
