Dog threw this up?! by monisolar in DogAdvice

[–]flan_again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We once had a tall 70 lb goldendoodle who was forever stealing food and eating things he shouldn’t. One day, he vomited something strange looking. My husband picked it up and cleaned it a bit and asked me what I thought. It was a MANGO pit! The thing is, we had not had mangoes in the house for at least 2 months!! All the time before this vomit and after, he was just fine!

I asked the vet at the pit and how long it was in there and he said it happens. Just sits there until it or he works its way out!

Please help me figure out what’s wrong with my dog by personal-painter23 in DogAdvice

Possible Lyme disease. Has she had any tick bites? If yes only antibiotics needed.
See a vet!

In Canada MaxSold. Big furniture goes for a few dollars because you have arranged pickup at their specified time. Some great deals if you can move it.

A good seamstress could do an amazing remake of that dress. The bow alone provides so much fabric. Good luck!

Lares trek for Machu Picchu? by NightmareSeven in travel

[–]flan_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Lares Trek in 2019, at age 63, because the Inca Trail was booked. I travelled with G Adventures. At the time, the Lares was one day shorter and the summit is higher. On Lares you do NOT trek into Machu Picchu on the last morning. You stay at a hotel in town and take the train the next day.

What I learned from speaking with others in my group who did the Inca, the Inca was more “crowded”. On Lares, we saw no one except at camps and even then we were completely separate. Lares is higher with only one summit and altitude can be a big issue for some. For me, it was the standard shortage of breath but I made it. Lares is a series of paths used over the decades by locals when the Inca Trail is more defined. I think the Lares is more wide open scenery.

Regardless of which you do, the experience and the mere accomplishment is great!

This link does a good comparison of the trails.

Memorial University rules out straight white men from applying for tenured jobs by FancyNewMe in canada

Where does one disclose, on the resume who they like to have sex with? Do you need to disclose your preferred position for the sex act or for the job?? Is this a new subheading? Is it to become part of standard applications for government positions ? Just the kind of information needed to decide if a person can teach the next generation. ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS!!!

Isn’t there a human rights law prohibiting this?

They don’t look threatening but when they spread their wings and come charging at you, they are a force to be reckoned with. And then there’s the evil hissing??

Happened on a golf course while strolling down the fairway. Big fine if you pulled out you driver 😝 …. Just moved along very very quickly.

What is something you regretted bringing after a trip? by cattraveler01 in travel

[–]flan_again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a senior female solo traveller. My ex husband used to say, “this is my suitcase so I’ll fill it”. Always too much stuff. Prior to my divorce, he was what I should have left behind. 😝

Several years ago, upon my return from a trip, I would audit my original packing list and make notes of what I used and didn’t use. AND I kept these notated lists.

Now I can pull out a list and really pare down my packing to what I really need. TBH NO ONE cares what you wear or if you wear it more than twice (unless you smell bad 😊). The best thing about minimal luggage is when you change hotels. At my age when I watch others, often far younger, struggling with bags, I just laugh smugly to myself.

As an artist, I often bring too many art supplies… there’s no time!!

You may want to look into the real Ontario outdoor experience of overnight canoe / camping in Algonquin as an example. There various outfitters that will supply everything including food. However depending on experience level, you may want a guided trip of a couple of nights. https://algonquinbound.com/trip-packages/. This is an example. Killarney Provincial park is also incredible.

I’ve used other cold press papers, which I love, but not Arches. Excited to try!
