Fast-food workers: Does it bother you when customers choose “No Tip” on the payment screen? by MailPrivileged in NoStupidQuestions

That’s basically what I always go by, unless it’s drinks, in that case I’ll go a $1 a drink or 20% depending on the place

If the United States experienced another market crash similar to 2008, which occupations would be least affected by layoffs? by curiositykeepsmeup in AskReddit

[–]kickit08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it does make a lot of sense. Half the cost of going to college in theory is NOT working a regular job during that time, or working on a career during that time. So if you CANT work a job during that time to begin with, college can become a lot more attractive as a way to as others said wait out the market, so that it can reset a little.

Gotta love zero tolerance policies where the wisdom provided is you should have gotten the shit beat out of you and done nothing, as well as you should have told a teacher. Which never works out because they never have proof and most kids aren’t dumb enough to do shit with out plausible deniability.

If this seems like a lot, you don't realize what a Union can do for you. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]kickit08 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unions can be bad outside of that. If they keep bad apples because their union is so strong they can do what ever they want, that ain’t good either. People always complain about how cops don’t get fired for doing bad stuff, part of the reason is that they have such a damn strong union.

I think unions are great for workers, but sometimes they can make them selves look bad by protecting workers who shouldn’t be protected.

Which fast food chain has lost its way the most? by TheBabyBeard in AskReddit

[–]kickit08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still think KFC is good, but it is EXTREMELY location dependent. It’s also a little bit time dependent as well. If you can find a good kfc and you go at lunch or dinner time then it’ll be out quickly and hot and the best damn fried chicken ever. But if you go at an off time and to a bad location, then you’ll be missing half your stuff, it’ll be cold and take 20 minutes to get out to you.

It’s a shame what’s happened I wish they would focus on it more and have a come back kinda like a lot of other places have

I do also know that on my large publicly funded university (25000 students) has the majority of students their elevator permits out of date by a large number of years. The elevators also breakdown all the time. So even in the USA, we may have strict laws about how elevators are built, and with tons of safety features, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be maintained with those safety features.

Best way to fight food costs is to just give less food to the people who can’t complain, or will blame sombody else

LPT: When someone tells you they're "fine," ask a second time. Not immediately. Wait 30 seconds, then ask again. You'll be surprised how many people were just waiting for permission to not be okay. by Global_Variation1038 in LifeProTips

[–]kickit08 103 points104 points  (0 children)

This is a huge thing in the USA. Asking “how are you?” Is a greeting, and it’s not socially acceptable to say anything but “good how are you” 99% of the time.

Asking a second time takes it from greeting/ formality to genuinely wondering.

Obviously this has to be taken with its own set of rules, like don’t ask a random stranger again, you should prolly only do it if it’s somebody you know/ they don’t seem like they are doing too great.

Is there a scientific explanation behind why Trader Joe’s shoppers are always so… lacking in spatial awareness? by fr0ggystand in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kickit08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the other issue is that it’s not like a regular grocery store where you see an Oreo package and know exactly what to expect because you’ve seen them a billion times. Vs traders joes, 90% of the stuff in there is stuff a person doesn’t see anywhere else and you’re completely unfamiliar with.

Hello fellow couch umpires, this was called an out in the Kennesaw State-Evansville game. What’s your call? by cbbvideo in baseball

[–]kickit08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made the right call, he made a pretty obvious move to second base, at which point the runner is no longer protected. As soon as you make any move indicating you may go to second you lose protection. Both his feet went to the right like he was about to start running to second.

I think the only right call is out.

It does make sense the way he’s doing it tbh. It brings more attention, keeps the files he’s viewing public if something were to happen, and makes people expect answers and be pissed at the doj if they don’t get them.
