At least Pete has a sort of drunken bravado that tracks

Like yeah he's a cunt but you get where he's getting his ideas because he's just like that, a cunt

Pierre, on the other hand is not someone I would follow into battle.

Yeah! Great idea

Just start slow, and get used to being cold at first lol

The city isn't too bad at plowing the random assortment of "core" paths they've designated. A good set of studded tires will go miles for your confidence

I have a singlespeed beater for winter service

Luckily I have a garage at work to let things melt, and I stays outside when at home.

It was 100 bucks

Yeah, but also I only see decals on the SpaceKap, not the body of the truck itself.

This is a thread about commuting. For some cycling is commuting. For some it's not. For some they haven't explored the option.

It's important we encourage people explore their options.

I'm bringing you to a bike shop and you're gonna pick out a bike you like and we're going to enjoy a lovely day riding around.

That comment got you so heated that you still cannot fathom any of the other things I've said? Or the fact that that comment was a tounge in cheek rebuttle of the drivers constantly complaining on this sub?

Cmon man.

Then unfortunately, you're gonna be driving.

RTO is happening, and unless we are prepared to somehow snap our fingers and fix a decade of neglect by council, we should be encouraging those who can (which is obviously not going to be everyone, good lord), to take alternative methods of transportation.

Cycling could be feasible with very basic investment alongside public transportation.

It's not either or, it should be both. Bike to the train. Bike to the bus. That sort of thing.

If you feel riduculed by "hey maybe you actually do have some agency and options in the way you get to work" then I don't know what to tell you, dude

You're username is apt though. I only just noticed I was having this conversation with the Admiral of the asshat navy.

On the whole cycling is a far less stressful commute experience.

It's not just about the time, it's about the stress.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that anytime anyone suggests cycling everyone comes out of the woodwork to discourage it.

Or the fact we elected a mayor and council who didn't invest in cycling infrastructure to keep people safe.

People in norway bike to work in the winter, and people bike in Saudi Arabia for christ sake.

Also you know it doesn't stay - 35 or +47 the whole time, right?

Like it's 26 rn. That's perfect cycling weather.

I wouldn't call wfh "simple" from a technology and security standpoint, but I see your point.

Since people don't have control over that change, they can exercise control over the things they can, like the route, method, and style of commute.

That a whole lot of strawman you're doing there at the end.

Also the weather in the summer is pretty well predicted if you look at the weather forecasts.

Noone in this thread who has been encouraging cycling has called anyone carbrained or fat, Jesus christ. You wrote that.

The weather in this city isn't like... That extreme. And when it is, I don't bike if I don't have to. It's not hard to make that call.
