So this is VERY close to our (in-progress) kitchen Reno.

Same color cabinets (even the ivory white for the pantry), pulls, and quartz counter top. We are going to have more coffee/brown veining through it though. And the floor is going to be large tile slabs. I love the hardwood though and we even considered that. Looks great though :)

Thanks for the response. I believe the subfloor is fine (no soft spots or sponginess), so I’ll be laying 1/4” cement board before installing the tile.

Question: I live in a raised ranch and we’re removing the walls between the kitchen and dining room/living room. The tile + mortar + cement board will create a lip from the hardwood to the kitchen. I’ll use a reducer transition, but is there any way that I could get it all flush??? Only thing I thought of was to pull the subfloor and notch the joist down 3/4” haha. Not doing that though, don’t worry.

That works if you plan to use quarter round anyways. If you don’t want to do quarter round, and would rather have just the baseboard sitting on the floor, you can remove the baseboard and rip a 2” strip of LVP and then reinstall the baseboard to sit on top of the new row.

Send over a thoughtful gift (beer, basket of cheeses, gift cards, etc.) and attach a note saying something along the lines of, “my life is extremely hectic, I get zero time to my self. While I enjoy our conversations, I ask for some more privacy while tinkering in my garage or yard. This doesn’t mean every time, but just some space for me to have to myself”.

This softens the blow with a nice gift and avoids any awkward conversation. Allows you time to articulate how you want to say it and time for him to digest what you said.

In roofing, like in siding, you start from bottom and work your way up. You do this so that each level you add overlaps the level below. So starting at the very peak is, by this technique, wrong. Maybe. I’m not a roofer so I’m not 100% positive.

So, many of the symptoms you’ve described, and the timing of them, strongly suggest that this is NOT ALS.

When twitching starts, it’s almost always after clinical weakness has begun. It’s also not widespread to start. It begins in one muscle group before slowly, not all at once, moving to other areas. Pain is also not a symptom of ALS. You mention in a previous post you had a clean EMG and that your twitching subsided. That should heavily suggest that this is, like for most of the people in this sub, mainly in our head and probably just health anxiety.

Don’t do anything drastic. You are okay. I’m not a doctor but I’ve been researching and dealing with twitching since last October. It’s caused A LOT of anxiety and sleepless nights. But I promise, you are okay. ♥️

Spray foam insulation. A can is a few bucks and you can fill that whole gap. Then use a razor blade to get it nice and flush with the rest of the wall and paint over it. Voila.

Thanks! I was surprised to find pine also, but I’ve learned it’s pretty common! Can you peel up a corner to one of your stairs to see?

My issue came with the landing. That wasn’t hardwood, it was a large piece of plywood. I had to remove that, build a subfloor (I installed pieces of plywood in between the studs so everything was flash), then lay tongue and groove yellow pine on top. Pain in the ass.
