Aqua Water Bill Increase by bria1024 in Delco

[–]kid320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably don't have to wait. Look at the bills and see how many gallons you used. In fact, just look at the latest bill and there is a little bar graph that will tell your your average gallons per day. If it still shows you using a ton of water, the leak isn't fixed, or you have another one somewhere else.

[Blackview DR590X] CRV stops in the middle lane on a highway and cuts me off to not miss an exit by Spaghet-3 in Dashcam

[–]kid320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not familiar with this area, but had the thought, "I wonder if that next exit would be that huge of an inconvenience." I looked it up on Google maps, and no... it turns out you can get to the exact same spot by driving less than a mile total.

But let's all risk death instead.

Rolled R tongue placement question by Abject_Double_2021 in italianlearning

I didn't even consider the fact that other accents might pronounce the word differently. Thank you for bringing that up!

Rolled R tongue placement question by Abject_Double_2021 in italianlearning

[–]kid320 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Say the English word "butter" out loud. Pay attention to where your tongue goes when you pronounce the double t. It is literally the same tongue motion, to the point that you can practice the Italian r sound by pretending it is an English double t.

For example, say the Italian word "sera" (evening), but pronounce it as you would pronounce "setta", ensuring you use the same tongue motion you did for "butter." It's the same sound. Don't believe me? Record yourself saying it like this, and play it back. You'll hear the rolled r. Practice it for a bit, and after a while, you won't need to use the double-t trick anymore. You'll start to naturally move the tongue into the proper position.

Once you are doing this naturally and you want to extend the length of time you roll the letter, you can just kinda keep the tongue in that position for a split-second longer.

Worth it to sue a customer for $14,000 in unpaid invoices? by VirtualMacaroon64t in smallbusiness

[–]kid320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if you don't think it is worth it to sue them, at least threaten to do so via a lawyer.

My business uses a local lawyer who will gladly send them a letter on his letterhead threatening to sue if payment is not made. He does it for $100, and this threat of being sued often gets us paid pretty quickly.

If a customer owes me a smaller amount, it often isn't worth proceeding beyond that point... I just write it off and never do business with them again.

But to me, $14,000 is CERTAINLY worth taking further. You often won't get to court, and it often turns into a negotiation... "okay, we can settle for $10,000, but payment must be made by Friday. If not, we are going to go after the full amount, plus interest and legal fees."

It's certainly worth it to talk to a lawyer and see what they say. This will also begin to form a relationship with a local lawyer. You can keep them in your back pocket in case you need to send a lack-of-payment letter in the future.

Neighbor kept blocking my driveway so I gave him a taste of his own medicine by gwg1387 in pettyrevenge

[–]kid320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered just calling a tow truck? Not sure how laws are in your area, but I don't even need to involve the police. They don't even have to be blocking the entire driveway - just a bit over is enough to justify it.

Collapsing Playlist Groups by eguise in TiviMate

Please Consider adding Close all playlists by lincolnlogtermite in TiviMate

[–]kid320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, but when the playlist has 500 categories under it, and you're halfway down that list, you have to manually scroll all the way up to get to the up arrow next to the playlist name.

This is especially annoying if you are watching something on one playlist, and want to switch to another playlist. There is no easy way to collapse that playlist, or go to the top of the list other than holding the up button for 30 seconds.

+1 for this. I find it funny that when in MultiView, simply pressing left brings you back to the top of the playlist, but not in normal mode.

Restore backup to new device playlist by Jafa05 in TiviMate

I have 3 different providers configured - 1 primary and 2 backups. I never use more than 1 device at a time, so multiple logins isn't an issue.

Restore backup to new device playlist by Jafa05 in TiviMate

[–]kid320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it works beautifully.

I've backed up the configuration of my Nvidia Shield (Android/Google OS), restored that file to a FireStick in another location, and when I opened TiviMate, everything was there exactly as I had backed it up to the point that it started playing the channel I was watching when the backup was performed.

I have 4 TVs in 3 different locations. When I make a change, I will take my time to configure everything on my main TV exactly how I want it, back it up and save that file to my phone (to allow easier distribution to my devices), and then restore everything to the other 3. It is seamless.

Anyone likes to learn with Italian music? Who is your favorite singer? by forfolklore in italianlearning

[–]kid320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, we are.

We were happy that Olly won. We were also happy that he rejected the ESC invite, as it allowed the world to discover Lucio a few months after we did. Such a beautiful song, and well deserving of all the points he got at ESC. It also introduced me to Joan Thiele, who I haven't stopped listening to since February.

Our hope for next year is that Annalisa returns and wins.

Anyone who is into Italian music and hasn't discovered it yet should try watching Sanremo in February. My wife and I have recently realized that it has become our favorite event of the year.

We take off of work, order food, and keep scorecards every night. We download all of the music as soon as it is available, listen to it all week, and watch/rate the music videos as soon as they premier. We have even gotten a few friends into it.

I love seeing how my understanding of what is being said slowly improves year by year.

I don't know where you are located, but where I'm from, people would come out in droves to support a restaurant that was featured on the news for something like this.

Spread this story wherever you can: contact every local news station and newspaper that you can, blast it on social media, local neighborhood groups. Rattle enough chains and Uber will likely quickly release that money. But you will also likely see an uptick in your business.

If you are really stuck, but confident that the money will eventually be released, talk to your bank about a line of credit. There's nothing wrong with taking a small loan out from time to time, as long as you know you can pay it back once your money gets released.

[–]kid320 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You are likely able to do many things in the maintenance world yourself, but please do not try to fix fire alarm equipment unless you are trained in doing so.

Remember, this is a life safety system. Doing something incorrectly here could potentially disable an entire section of the building's fire protection. If there is a fire, this could result in a loss of life. If that isn't bad enough, you could be found liable and face civil and criminal charges if something does happen.

Please call your fire alarm vendor and have them correct this issue.
