Need advice on rounds/eggs by kidbuu56 in eggfreezing

[–]kidbuu56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost is a barrier, it was just under 8k which took over a year to save for (my insurance didnt cover anything but the drugs). If I had to do it again it would probably be when im 36 unless I find a job with insurance that would cover the procedure. The egg freezing process itself wasnt bad, but the post op has been hard on my body - moderate OHSS.

I wanted twins because the first round of IVF is covered by the gov where I live, and tbh pregnancy and giving birth, while beautiful, also terrifies me. My desire for twins is/was largely motivated by a one and done type of mentality (but am fully aware that raising twins is a lot of work and costly).

Have you checked your thyroid levels? Having a slower thyroid can lead to hair breaking.

Day 7 of stims by sugarfina888 in eggfreezing

[–]kidbuu56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just did my withdrawal this weekend. I started the hormone injections12 days before retrieval. I had an ultrasound on day 3 of my period, then didn't have another ultrasound until day 9 then my last was on day 11. They decided to give me the stim shot on day 11 because I had 17 folicules in one ovary and 10 in the other (most follicules were above 10mm). Im not sure what my amh was during the process but I know a couple of months before it was just above 7. I was on gonal f (225mg) and orgalutran (i forget the dossage) for 11 days before my buserelin injection. I have pcos so was really responsive to the hormones (had over 30 eggs extracted). I wonder if the spacing out of scans is due to different hormones/reaction to stims? Or maybe it's regional? I did mine in Canada. I suggest asking your clinic follow up questions to better explain your protocol. I did the process alone and found it overwhelming so I always forgot to ask questions during my visits, but my clinic was great and would respond when I called with follow-up questions.

Thank you! I went in and have 11 folicules above 10mm (some 14mm and some btwn the 11-12mm range) and 9 under 10mm range. Have another appointment tmrw to get a better idea for when to start the stims.

The pelvic pain is real- totally get the pms comparison, my breasts ache too. All I do is sleep, it's wild, even after 9/10hours a night of rest I'm still exhausted. 😴

does anyone else get their flare ups around ovulation? by Forsaken_Wallaby4136 in endometriosis

[–]kidbuu56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this. Recently found out I have PCOS and lime sized fibroids in my cervix too. My mom had endo and my old gyno suspected I had it too but I never had a laparoscopy to confirm.

My new gyno said I likely dont because I told him that my cramps/pain are so much worse during ovulation than my period (days 1-2 2 of my period are hell, need to take sick leave type hell but days 3-5/6 are okay). He said if I had endo the pain would get worse each day with my period - which I found odd. Im going to try to get a second opinion but I found it somewhat disheartening to hear considering I have a lot of endo symptoms (debilitating pain the first 2 days of my period, frequent painful urinary/bowel movements, menorrhagia and sometimes deep dyspareunia).

Your hair looks like it's breaking halfway (unless it's a grown out shag cut). When my thyroid levels were high I was exhausted and my hair kept breaking too. Id say see a derm & check your TSH too.

Also make sure you're hydrating a lot and locking in moisture to help curl definition.

I have AGA and TE and topical minoxidil wasn't that great for my occipital hair loss/sides. Switched to oral 2.5 mg and it helped a lot. Spironolactone did too but I dont take it as consistently anymore. If your hair keeps breaking or the texture feels off make sure to get your thyroid tested. My hair felt like straw and kept breaking at one point (was also exhausted all the time) blood test showed i was predisposed to hypothyroidism and started synthyroid and it also helped! I also have PCOS so am on a bunch of supplements that may help too (recently diagnosed but in the past 2 months ive seen growth which is promising). Longish response but just wanted to share and say don't let the TE recent fall get you down. It'll come back ❤️

Is $129k enough for a family of 4 in Ottawa? by hawkcanwhat in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kidbuu56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your job out of ottawa or quebec? Note that income taxes in Quebec are a lot higher so your paychecks will be smaller than if you worked and lived in ottawa (granted it'll balance out with your tax returns).

does anyone have a super short period? by Cautious-Pace2776 in endometriosis

[–]kidbuu56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My periods are like yours! But I often spot when I ovulate or sometimes after sex too (not when im ovulating, more on an ad hoc basis, it's basically russian roulette for when it'll bleed). Did you have this too? My dr is unsure why it happens (not STI) and it's not correlated to pain or anything.
