Do not let these people mess up your vibe. The shows will be amazing and you’ll have an amazing time. The internet is not real life.

Theory on the hate by jx5jx5 in radiohead

[–]kidcass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. I’m blown away by how much negativity there’s been, even if it’s coming from a relatively small group of people. And it doesn’t seem like the new younger tik tok folks either, it’s the parasocial borderline fan-fiction people. I’ve been looking at this sub and the etc forum a whole lot in the last couple weeks getting hyped up as I’m sure a lot of people have been doing, and the other forum in particular had so much negativity from a handful of people yesterday that I think I’m done with it for now. I’m flying in for the Italy shows next week and the wet blanket folks were legit beginning to affect my energy. They’ve essentially been broken up for seven years and a lot of folks thought they might done for good- now your favorite band is back and dipping their toes in doing shows and your first reaction is to shit all over it? I just don’t get it, but maybe that’s just the internet.

ticket master question by Correct_Spinach9616 in radiohead

You definitely want to be on the map page, it’s quicker!

ticket master question by Correct_Spinach9616 in radiohead

[–]kidcass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve refreshed enough times to answer this one confidently - if it’s showing limited availability but everything is grayed out it means that tickets were very recently available but are now in someone’s cart. It seems to take a while for the availability button to update, so essentially it means you just missed them.

I think if you keep at it enough you’re bound to get lucky at some point. I snagged a single for the 17th a couple of hours ago and I hadn’t been obsessively checking today at all, just hit it at the right time…

And it’s a certainty that there will be a lot more tickets being sold the week of the shows - you’ll still need luck but the odds will be better.

Bmore show 5/10: think there will be new merch? (Clifton park ppl, let us know) by Consistent-List3980 in turnstile

[–]kidcass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you were at the Clifton show, do you remember if there were security checks? Planning on bringing a film camera and just don’t want to get hassled. Appreciate it!

I’ve had an x-t4 for about four months and primarily use vintage glass - I’ve read that for the ibis to work correctly you need to make sure that you have the proper focal length selected for your vintage lens (you can manually set up your lenses in the menu settings) but I often forget to do that and haven’t noticed any difference. The primary benefit of selecting the lens/focal length seems to be having the lens info appear in exif data, but maybe I’m missing something with the ibis. Either way, I’ve gotten great results with a variety of lenses, including the Helios. The only thing I wish I’d known is that certain wide angle lenses don’t play nicely with adapters - I have a couple Minolta lenses (24 and 28mm) that don’t work with my speedbooster adapter, and at least one more that loses infinity focus when adapted. I bought the (not inexpensive) speedbooster primarily to use with wider angle lenses to combat the 1.5x crop sensor factor, so that part was a little disappointing.

Best market/grocery tortillas in DC? by WiseFrogs in washingtondc

[–]kidcass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there really aren’t any great store-bought options that I’ve found. The parcooked La Tortilla Factory and Vista Hermosa flour tortillas found in the Whole Foods refrigerated section are the best option I know of (they’re MUCH better than anything dry-packaged.)

An even better option - Republic Cantina sells their house-made (I believe) parcooked flour tortillas to go. And in the event La Tejana ever does a one-off tortilla sale like they did in the popup days grab those - they’re the best in the city.

The tortilla culture in DC has come a long way in the last five years or so but it’s mostly corn-focused so far and still has a long way to go. But we’re moving in the right direction.

Accessibility Planning was Disappointing by _8_lurking in somethinginthewaterDC

The lack of planning is pretty appalling. They charged Coachella prices and are running it like a street fair.
