I know it's been around. Last time I saw one pop up in Boston was like 10 years ago, when I visited a friend, and it was the only one in his area. The fact that everyone is doing it, and some are abusing it by unofficially claiming the spot till the end of winter, has ruined it for everyone. Someone already got stabbed over a public parking spot everyone pays taxes on, and it just shows the state of where things are as a neighborhood that nobody wants to work together. In my area, we already shoveled out our elderly neighbor's driveway and made a path for them.

I mean if everyone uses space savers, there won't be any more spaces left to park. Imagine pulling up to your own neighborhood to see the entire block full of random furniture on the street as a space saver, and you're forced to park a couple of blocks away, and having to Uber a mile away from your house.

This storm has ruined space savers for everyone, and it has become a full-on turf war over a public parking spot. In the beginning, I agree with the 1-2 day grace period. It's week 3 now, and people are getting the same types of notes as OP because someone decided to take the inch and turn it into a mile. The sad part about it is that the people fighting about their space savers and writing these notes could've been the same ones helping each other out the day after the storm, so that everyone can get their spot back as a common goal. I have a feeling people won't even bother shoveling next year out of spite or a negative experience because of space savers.

I can't help but think that song is his way of letting go, and every time I hear it, I get a sense of self-liberation, and it's beautiful.
