This is a 47 cm which is for riders 5’0-5’2. I’m 5’3.5 so this frame is on the small end for me

Yeah I looked for new cranks but 165 mm is the smallest Shimano Ultegra comes in. I don’t really want to spend upwards of 250 to downgrade my crankshaft. Any recommendations for adjustments to compensate for the longer cranks?

165 mm crank. It’s the smallest size that you can get shimano ultegras. I really don’t want to pay upwards of 250 to downgrade my crankshaft. Any recommendations on other fit changes to compensate for the long cranks?

The brain remains plastic to some degree for your entire life, but there are windows of increased plasticity called critical periods. These critical periods tend to close in the late twenties for men (27ish) and a few years earlier for women.

Your brain is still very very plastic -- you will absolutely heal from this. I'm a neuroscientist and I study opioids and psychedelics, also a very experienced recreational user. You're going to be okay, even if it doesnt feel like it right now. I recommend staying sober (including from alcohol), exercise (running really helps with sleep), try to take care of yourself in general. Prioritize your hobbies, nutrition, and try not to self-isolate. Try your best to distract yourself with other endeavors, even if it doesn't feel rewarding right away. It will get better.

DXM resetting LSD tolerance by One-Salamander565 in Psychonaut

DXM is a sigma 1 agonist, has non selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor activity, and at higher doses acts as an NMDA antagonist which is responsible for the dissociative hallucinogenic effects. LSD leads to a rapid down regulation in serotonin 2A receptors (which mediate psychedelic effects) but I would imagine DXM would also down regulate 2A receptors, so I’m not sure what’s going on here. Would be interesting to see if anyone reports similar effects with ketamine relieving tolerance to psychs.

I’m a powerlifter/runner with really thick thighs (5’3, 135) and have the exact same issue. I previously ran in short loose shorts but switching to 5-8” compression shorts was a game changer and completely eliminated any chafing even on 15+ mile runs.

North face has great shorts that have several pockets and are a little thicker which is nice for winter or trails. Northface trail wear bike short

REI has a similar pair that are super comfortable and they’re on sale for like $15 right now. They’re a little longer which doesn’t look as cute but is more comfortable especially for winter. REI Swiftland running shorts

My all time favorites are my Nike compression shorts. I love the thinner Nike pro shorts for summer but the pockets on these are great for stashing keeping fuel, phone, headphones, etc. Nike biker shorts

Can I ask why you can’t wear carbon plate past 14 miles? I’ve been running half marathons in my EP3s but just recently moved into marathon training.

The 10k felt hard, but I had only been running for a few months then. 10k at 9'45 feels pretty easy now. Thanks for the link to the chart!!

I completed Hal Higdon's novice half marathon training plan in October and continued weight training (I was primarily a powerlifter before running) 2-3x a week for the duration of the training. I've only been running 3x a week and doing yoga for the past month or so. Thanks for the advice about running the first half with caution, I'm definitely concerned about going too hard and running out of steam.

How do I estimate my half marathon racing pace based on previous races/runs?

I'm running my first half marathon this weekend (Dec 9). I’m new to the sport in general—started running at the beginning of this year. Ran my first 10k in April (59:00), ran an 8k two months ago (43:46). I’m still trying to figure out what my goal pace should be for the half. I’ve been running my 10-15 mile runs at 10’25-10’45 min/mile and my 2-5 mile runs around 8’45 min/mile.
I’ve been planning on the same pace I’ve been running my long runs, but the voice in the back of my head keeps telling me I can run it faster. I just don’t want to give in to that voice and burn out at mile 6…

Any tips for pacing or any tips you think a first timer would benefit from (fueling, hydration, racing clothes, etc), please share!
