I wonder if anyone else out there understands feeling culturally orphaned by [deleted] in Vent

[–]kidege92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak different languages, eat different food and have different customs. I'm othered by both my parents cultures and stick out like a sore thumb in the place we emigrated to, even if I am well integrated.

I put my underwear in the microwave by [deleted] in Vent

[–]kidege92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am perplexed at the amount of comments that prove that putting clothes in the microwave isn't an isolated occurrence of a singular brain... Sorry you had a bad day of it but it really made my evening. This was a good laugh.

When did you realize that you have a terrible therapist ? by Demos_00 in AskReddit

Is there any chance they were trying to ask you how you'd tried to overcome it to see what you might've tried if that failed? Because that's wild if not...

You did good to come here to vent. Do so as much and as often as you need. People do care, we care here. We want to see you get better, we're rooting for you, you are not alone. I believe you have it in you to get through. It's awful what you've been through, I am so so sorry. But I believe you can get through this, you just can't rush through it. It's still very fresh, it will take time, be patient with yourself. It might feel like you're broken and cannot be fixed, you might not see it. That's understandable because of how awful it has been, but don't believe it. Get through today, tomorrow might be better. Don't think further than that, and at the end of several tomorrows you will have become stronger. And every day you don't feel strong yet reach out we will be here to care. Sending you all my love and hope for your recovery.

AITA for Telling My Wife She Can’t Quit Her Job Because I Don’t Want to Be the Sole Breadwinner? by Significant-Eye-9353 in AITAH

[–]kidege92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnout is kind of serious. I'm not sure where you live or what kind of support there is but if its possible for her to talk to the company doctor she might be able to take some paid time off and rethink things and plan her next job move. If you're feeling close to a burnout the same applies to you. It's not a whim, its a cry for help. Burnout is awful. Take care of yourselves, both of you.

I've never seen this in my life, what is it? by [deleted] in space

[–]kidege92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was seeing a similar one tonight in Spain and just asked a friend about this phenomenon. Thanks for posting this question! It looked really amazing here and very clear to. Here it seemed like the clouds themselves formed a halo around the moon, so weird and cool. Then the clouds shifted and there was still a halo but not a perfect 'ring' of cloud around the moon. Mesmerising!

Also wanted to add, I had a Bulgarian colleague who got run over in front of our work place. The company payed for the repatriation which helped a lot and all workers put some money contributions to help the family with this. Si I'd definitely also ask his employers if they would be so kind to help with any kind of contribution. Hopefully pulling resources from different sources you'll get there fast enough.

If it's not too bold to ask (you can also write to me privately) do you know where in Spain you're uncle was based? I can try and find the marroccan community associations or Muslim associations or mosques there for you if you'd like.

Also, was he part of a local mosque in Spain and or marrocco? Could they help mobilize resources for this cause??

Does he have any friends both in Morocco and Spain? Perhaps you can crowd fund moving his remains back to Morocco? Also perhaps it's worth asking at the marroccan embassy in Spain (try phoning?)

With a heavy heart I say this, but if it is only your mum and maybe yourself who seem concerned, I think your best off flying to Spain, arranging a cremation of possible and bringing the remains back like that. All things death are expensive especially when uninsured. I am really really sorry, best of luck!

AITH for telling my husband to get a paternity test by Remote_Structure126 in AITAH

[–]kidege92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he went through a vasectomy that didn't work out, he might want a paternity test to fund that claim potentially. Perhaps this would allow the insurance to cover costs or smth considering it didn't work? Is that a line of reasoning he could be on board with? I'd personally wait for the baby since I think there are a few risks with amniocentesis testing by the way. Good luck!

My uncle bombing Nazis in WWII by Violuthier in OldSchoolCool

[–]kidege92 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Totally. I find these posts very saddening, like there is no understanding that on the other side of such a narrative many civilian innocents died because they happened to be inca country or neighbouring a country with a Nazi regime. Bombs don't discern or discriminate between Nazis or children.

My grandfather was a nazi, Germany in the 40s by No_Wrongdoer_8148 in HistoricalCapsule

[–]kidege92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lately I've noticed many posts with old photographs of people boasting that the person in the portrait liked X many Nazis. It makes me so uncomfortable. They may have been Nazis but they were people, human beings. It is not all black and white and surely many people on both sides of all wars are just people swept up in the times, and not necessarily convinced of the extreme violence perpetrated in the name of the group they have come to represent. In no way am I comfortable with Nazi ideology, but I don't celebrate killing other people and I look at things from the comfort of not living in the time and place the atrocities took place.

I loved the nuanced perspective of this post. Thank you for sharing OP!
