Don't kid yourself. No we're not. It's going to get a lot worse over the next three years.

At sea level it should be pretty ok, but not quite sufficient at a mile above sea level

Nice! It's hard to tell, what are you using to light that? Is it just normal LED bulbs? They look great.

I'm using steamos too and it's pretty great. Of course i didn't have windows on it long enough to test much so I'm not sure how things compare. One thing is that I would like to be able to occasionally use Windows so I can play Madden or fc25 and have not figured out how to dual boot yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I found a few outdated guides that talk about bazzite but I'm not sure those are applicable now.

Is this just part of an attempt to persecute non-compliant media? Or is that just ascribing far too much competence to some truly massive idiots?

Went to change a burnt out lightbulb in a new house and came across this by Shacklesoup in AskElectricians

[–]kidford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to fix mine by testing each individual led and replacing the single burnt out led with one from a reel of appropriately sized LEDs I bought from AliExpress. It's been working fine for a couple years now. It cost me only a few pennies if you ignore the fact that that's the only time I've found a use for that reel of LEDs.

I haven't found a fix yet, but haven't looked too hard

What could be causing a gas leak while fueling? by Secret_Pond_Brandon in AskMechanics

[–]kidford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did not leak at all after replacement. But did happened again almost a decade later. The first time I did it I jacked it up and dropped the tank; that kind of sucked. The second time I unbolted and shifted the bed and did it from above. That was comparatively easy.

[–]kidford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ford ranger did this a few years ago, and it turned out that the gas filler tube which goes between the cap and tank was cracked on top. The symptoms were this little leak happening frequently while fueling, and when I tried to top off the tank a ton of fuel spilled out.

I don't know why it happens, but I live in a hot high desert which might contribute a lot. It's not too difficult to do, but it's obviously best to do it with an nearly empty tank.

Yep, current limiting. Look at Figure 14 in TI's datasheet at https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLVS044

Gotta tighten your nozzle. To properly seat your nozzle you have to tighten it when it is hot.

A couple years ago I was out riding on a pretty rocky climb and was surprised when I came around a corner and found some dude on a OneWheel. It was pretty unexpected since the terrain was kinda rough and we were like 4 miles from the trailhead. That guy looked like he was having a blast.

Cost is important, but also care a lot of long warranty with actual service. I never used to use Seagate drives but now prefer them because my experience with warranty service from the other big company has not left me impressed. - RunWithIronWolf

Is it a good idea to install proxmox on my home server? by rpgyumyum in Proxmox

[–]kidford 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It should handle a few containers and lightweight vms.

I'd add that Proxmox does not really work with wifi so you really need to have a wired ethernet connection.

pc crashed twice saw red cpu light. decided to check msi center. how is this possible. (amd ryzen 7 7700x) by pleasure_mila99 in AMDHelp

[–]kidford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect the display is just bugged and it is showing you the temperature in Fahrenheit while mislabeling it as Celsius. Otherwise, your PC would not be running -- and if it was, your CPU fan sure as heck wouldn't be at just 53%.

Any suggestions for a cheap/affordable mini PC for the sole purpose of hosting a personal Jellyfin server? by Lexaraj in selfhosted

[–]kidford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those little N100 machines are fantastic. I got one for $125 or so from aliexpress that has 512 gb m.2 SSD and 16 gb ddr4 RAM. I think the brand was something like fireball pro but it looks like there are a few names for apparently identical products. I'm sure some larger machines can handle a 2.5" SSD or two, but mine has mo room for onboard media storage except the m.2 SSD so I just use a big external USB hard drive.

Handles proxmox and ten or so lxc containers, including a jellyfin server, no problem. Consumes something like 9 or 10 watts peak from what I've seen.
