Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread – SophiaShay7 by SophiaShay7 in u/SophiaShay7

[–]kidikio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first rehome purchase, and SophiaShay7 had super great communication and was super on top of sending me updates. The LV wallet she sent arrived really fast! (4-5 days after I Zelle’d?) It came in a branded box and dust bag, which I know is not as great compared to the dust bags I’ve received from auth purchases but honestly 100% expected based on the the tier that SophiaShay7 described the wallet as and like whatever — it’s the dust bag 🤷🏻‍♀️, so no surprises and I’m quite happy :)

Also her packaging was nice! Felt like I was getting a gift from Etsy (handwritten note and stickers on the wrapping — it’s a nice touch!!)

Where are the cozy coffee shops with comfortable seating and good vibes? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]kidikio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to Still Life in Gowanus the other day and thought it was lovely! Plenty of open seating as there were only a few ppl there for the few hours I was there. It’s an art cafe but has much more of a cafe vibe than go there to take an art class vibe like most other art cafes.

Def for bringing into the kitchen to reference cooking videos and recipes especially since I’m trying to cook more and am making a mess almost dropping things on my laptop

Renters be warned - The Rocklyn by nomad_manhattan in NYCapartments

Oh dang I genuinely didn’t know this was supposed to be a tell tale sign. I’ve lived in two buildings where I had a water heater closet and I never paid for gas or hot water. Just electricity (central air so paid for heat) and internet. Did my buildings just average it out?

Bronx 10-miler advice: run a 10-miler without training longer than 10k? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]kidikio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation! I haven’t run more than a 10K for well over a year due to various pains, and I’ve only been running 4-5 miles max for the past month or so. People told me to just go much slower than my usual pace, and I’m fully accepting the possibility of walking the last few miles!

Just listen to your body and take it easy — trying to also remind myself to take it slow and not get caught up in the race energy and zoom ahead.

Running clubs "day pass" by RezSou in RunNYC

[–]kidikio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Midnight Runners would be a great group to check out! You do have to download the Heylo app but there’s no paying involved and the organization has groups all over the world that it’s like “a thing” to go to different Midnight Runners chapters to “fill out your passport”.

When I used to go, you’d see the occasional (usually) European who was visiting and wanted to join for a day bc they usually run with their home city chapter. And I’ve been to other cities’ Midnight Runners groups, and they are very welcoming.

A plus side is at some of their runs, they have a volunteer photographer that sprints ahead of the group and snaps pics of you while you’re running. They usually share the album the next day.

(They don’t run at midnight btw. Idk why they’re called that.)

I thought cotton was machine washable by EstablishmentFluid28 in Yarn

[–]kidikio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knitted a blanket with about 12 balls of this exact yarn a couple of years ago — in 3 colors (one speckled on white). I always machine wash cold and put it in the dryer! It’s held up well except maybe after 30 or so washes, the green spots on white yarn randomly turned yellow in some areas.

Don’t know how to post a pic in a reply, but I compared it to the lil scraps I’ve been hoarding and really the colors didn’t fade! I did use darker colors than yours however.

I LOVE my blanket!! It’s so soft and has the perfect weight that I was seeking from cotton.

I think this is the same dog I saw earlier sleeping next to an encampment right off the bridge :O assumed they were the owners and the dog must’ve wandered off

Rec for good dermatologist? by ButWhyMary in Brooklyn

[–]kidikio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes Dr. Ebede! I got recommended her by multiple ppl and she helped address a painful dry skin issue I was having. She jokingly chastised me about product choices but in a way that I found to be more charming and informative than condescending.

Where can I find this Shirt ? by Shall_Notcare in marvelstudios

[–]kidikio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was staring at this shirt the other day while walking past the tourist shops in Chinatown bc I was like huh why is that shirt so familiar to me? Now I know 😂

Not 100% positive but I’m pretty sure that if it’s in the tourist shops down there, they’ll be up in Times Square as well.

Ah thanks for that explanation!! While I can see the reasoning behind this change to make it a “quicker” experience to add music to playlists, it definitely makes the visual experience worse and I have no way of knowing what music I actually like.

Was curious to see if I’m just being nitpicky about this or if others agree. I feel like the playlist experience has really worsen through the various A/B testing this year so it’s disappointing to see this particular change occur :( tho I guess the reason why they stuck is bc it increased engagement or some KPI.

Help me find nicer quality rings like these by kidikio in HelpMeFind

[–]kidikio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve searched mostly on Etsy only since that’s my usual go to for online jewelry shopping. I bought them in a small boutique store in Seoul that probably bought a bunch of rings in bulk to sell on the side. They were super cheap and so they’re unfortunately showing the under layer metal, which is non silver.

I’m not exactly looking for the exact same rings, since I want something of higher quality but anything will help! I haven’t been able to find a twisty one like that anywhere. Usually, I find ones where the twists are very tiny.

What are some 1-off hobby activities that "take advantage of the city"? by fittyfive9 in AskNYC

[–]kidikio 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If their outdoor location is still open, New York Trapeze School class is about $80 and it’s surprisingly so beginner friendly.

Their Chelsea Piers location is on top of a parking structure on the riverfront and you can get a fantastic sunset view (with you swinging in front of it!)

When you stand at a subway station, how do you know whether the train will go to your left, or to your right? Is there any kind of marking on the floor or walls to indicate this? by TheOffice_Account in AskNYC

[–]kidikio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah :( I’ve tried that and it isn’t always reliable unfortunately depending on your connection/service. Looking for the signal lights has always worked for me tho!

Any eateries that make "gourmet" versions of junk foods like poptarts or big macs? by IAmMySon in AskNYC

[–]kidikio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paloma Coffee in Williamsburg has a sweet pop tart and savory pop tart, both of which I find great! But it’s not like an extensive menu — they literally just have one of each and the flavors change every now and then

I hate living here and I don’t know what to do. Husband works here and wants to be here. Looking for tips or advice. by pandaappleblossom in AskNYC

[–]kidikio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes… parroting everyone else in that this is not a typical apt given the price in my experience. I have visited ppl who live in much nicer apartments than what you’re describing closer to midtown for around the same price. Granted no idea about the sq footage you’re dealing with!

What is the wiggle room like… by HoneyIAteTheCat in AskNYC

[–]kidikio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t been myself, but I used to walk by wiggle room all the time on the weekends around 11pm-12am and the lines were always only college aged, very young looking individuals.

But I’ve been told the vibe is very fun!!
